Title: My brother
Post by: Soldier4Christ on October 06, 2005, 11:57:11 AM
I just got word that one of my brothers was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He has had a leaky heart (bad valve) for a while now and was being scheduled for surgery for it. This morning he was feeling so poorly he didn't get out of bed so his wife called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

I request that you all join me in prayer for him.

My brother is going through an angio-gram today. They are not only checking his heart but his kidneys also as they don't seem to be functioning as they should. The results of this will determine what is done next.

Pastor Roger, I am praying everything works out to Gods will. When your brother has his angiogram today.

Am praying for your brother, too, PR.  Any news on his condition this evening?  Does he live near you?

Anymore updates on Vicky's condition?  I'm still praying for her and her boys.  You planted a seed in her older son-----------it WILL grow.  If you can't water it, someone will, at some time.  The important thing is that the seed got planted!  I'm still hoping for a miracle for her as well as for your brother.  Hang in there!  I pray for you, too!

Thank you all for your prayers.

Yes he does live near by me. About 10 miles away. The angiogram showed a problem with his kidneys and heart. They cannot operate on his heart until the kidney problem is resolved. That is the best I can make of it as I got the information from his wife. I wasn't able to go to see him today and she has a hard time relaying the information sometimes.

The last I heard on Vicky was that she was going to get out of the hospital on Saturday and be at her Mom's house for two weeks while recovering still. That was last Friday. I haven't seen or heard from them since.

Thank you sister. It warms my heart to see Christians so willing to pray for each other as so many on here do. My prayers are for each and every one of you all daily in all things. The problems my brother has is genetic. 6 out of eight of us kids have had this difficulty so far. My two youngest sisters so far have not had the problem and I pray that they don't.

Brother let us not forget that Christ bore our sicknesses on the cross. God wants us all healed. I know for a fact that you know a lot of healing scriptures. We must all claim our healing. I have several autoimmune diseases, my autoimmune system is in such great condition that I never in my life have had a cold, and I have never had the flu. I have been around people with the flu or colds and never once caught anything. BUT my autoimmune system decided it wanted to go to work so it has turned against me. I have been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, Stiff Person syndrome ( a very rare auto-immune disease that causes violent, involuntary muscular spasms, strong enough to throw a person across a room. Only 1 in a million people worldwide have been diagnosed with it and  70%of the known sufferers are men), I also sufffered from graves disease, so severely that my thyroid had to be radiated, I have a history of DVTs and am currently on coumadin, that last bout with a DVT put me in a hospital for 2 weeks, at the time the doctors told my husband that due to the size, location and status of the DVT, I should have died 3 months before. The DVT was in a main artery, it was free-floating and it was 3 inches long. Last week I went for my follow up with my neurologist, and he diagnosed me with a brand new syndrome, it has something to do with a pinched nerve on the front of the legs affecting the thighs. He told me it is something that very heavy people get because their stomachs usually overlap at the waist pinching the nerve. THE PROBLEM IS I ONLY WEIGH 112 pounds. I am no where near overweight I am 5'2". 3 years ago I was in a wheelchair, then gradually started getting around with a walker, today I can walk up to 3 miles a day unassisted. I still get a few muscular spasms, and sometimes my muscles and  conective tissue to my nerves act up from the myasthenia gravis, sometimes I get double-vision, due to the weakness in my ocular muscles, but I refuse to let the enemy think he has me beat. I am an overcomer. By the stripes of Jesus I am healed. By the way most of the autoimmune diseases I've been diagnosed with are supposed to be genetic, the thing is that no one else in my family has any of them and none of my ancesters had them either. So I continue to refuse to claim them. I know that Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. So I thank GOD for my healing everyday. And I plan on being around for tha Rapture too :D

Amen, sister. A wonderful testimony indeed. My family found out about this problem in 1987 when my youngest brother died from it at the age of 33 and I had my first heart attack, all in the same month. Both of my parents died from it shortly after.

18 years later I am still going so I have much to praise the Lord for.

I understand the auto-immune problem. I was in the Gulf War in 1990-1991. I contracted what has been called the Gulf War Illness which is basically an auto-immune problem. It gets diagnosed as fibromyalgia, ALS or similar diseases. Many that have it are wheelchair bound or have died from it. I am still up walking around (most of the time).

Praise God I am still going. He has to much for me to do to let me get down and out.

Brother, my husband too went to dessert strorm his mos at the time was having to do with bio-chemical hazards, he too has symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome. His sometimes get real bad, but he won't go to a doctor. One day he was in so much pain that he couldn't walk, and I know it had to be God helping me, because I would never have been able to do this on my own, but I ended up carrying him (a six foot man that weighs 187 pounds) to the bed. I finally managed to make him agree with me to see a doctor, but only a chiropratctor (chriropractors don't prescribe medications), he still gets a lot of pain but he won't go to a doctor. Other than that he has severe nightmares, many have been the nights, where I've had to wake him because of the nightmares, but he won't talk to me about them so I just pray for him. Many nights I wake up in the middle of the night, and I just lay hands on him while he sleeps and pray for him. It's been at least 6 months since he's had one of those nightmares now. Thank God.

Sister, medically speaking there is not much that can be done for GWI at this time. The Drs just don't know enough about it to be of any help. I do suggest to all that have been involved and show such symptoms to visit a VA clinic and to have a Gulf War assessment made. It not only helps them but it helps others that have and are going through it also. I understand his not wanting to go to the Drs over it but it does help at least others as a whole.

Having gone through both Viet Nam and Desert Storm I also understand the nightmares. Some refer to this as PTSD. I was never treated for this. With the help of the Lord and my wife I was able to deal with it eventually.

Another thing to keep in mind here is that the VA is acknowledging the GWI and is giving compensation for it based on the severity of the condition. It is money that these people have earned and is well deserved.

Please thank your husband for me for his time in the service. It is because of people like him that we in the world have a better more free place.

I sure will thank him for you. He put 17 years in the USMC, then he dropped to the IRR, when I got real sick, and because of all the red tape and other things he missed out on his promotion and eventually retired, but he is still a Marine at heart, and a very patriotic one too.  :D

The saying goes "Once a Marine always a Marine". I was in the Navy and made it to Chief Petty Officer. It is also said "Once a Chief always a Chief" so I understand that well.  My last tour was Desert Storm. I was to be advanced to Senior Chief but also got sick and couldn't stay long enough to accept it.

This is all the more reason for him to get to the VA and get what is deserving for him.

Brother it would be easier for me to get chloroform, handcuffs, and a wagon to get him to the doctors, not to mention the reprecussions I'll have to deal with after that. He is so stubborn sometimes, yet if he so much as senses just the slightest bit of pain comming from me he right away wants to take me to the doctor.
Why is it some men don't like to go to doctors, and most men won't ask for directions when they get lost?????
Is is a man thing??

Pride gets in the way of logic sometimes.

It may help to use the weaker sex ploy. Try telling him that you wouldn't be able to survive on your own if something happened to him. It usually works with me.

If that doesn't work try the frying pan.  :-X :-X :D :D

...or use the "He's helping his brother Veterans"

Thank you Brother, that means a lot to me.

An update on my brother. It had stents put in to the vessels that feed both kidneys this morning and then was released from the hospital. They are planning to do a triple bypass and fix the valve in his heart in about two week. His immune system is pretty low and a lot of water collected around his heart from it so they won't operate on his heart untill his kidneys have had a chance to recover a bit.

Thanks for the update on your brother, PR.  How is he feeling?  Have you talked with him since he came home?  I've been praying ever since you asked for prayer for him and will continue.

Have you spoken with Vicky?  How's she doing.  I'm continuing to pray for her and her sons, also.

My brothers surgery is scheduled for 8 AM central time tomorrow. I will be checking in here off and on and will give an update as I get one.

I have another prayer request. There is a young man that I have been working with and even took into my home for awhile. I had to move him out of my home as he refused to stay out of trouble. Drugs, alcohol, robbery, and other things much worse. He has been in and out of jail a lot because of things. Last night he finally reached rock bottom. His family and "friends" has turned him away. He asked for help. After a long time of talking and praying with him my wife and I made some calls and got him into a place that will help him with his addictions but he has to go there of his own accord.

He was supposed to show up here this morning and I was going to take him there. He still has not showed up and no one knows where he is.

I would sincerely appreciate your prayers for this young man.

Pastor Roger,

Brother, I will definitely pray that God gives the doctors skill in giving your brother the best treatment possible. I will also pray for the entire family during this difficult time.

I give thanks that you have been working with the young man who has been in all of the trouble. We both know there is a time for tough love, and this appears to be the time. I hope and pray that this rock-bottom crisis gets this young man's attention finally and he turns his life over to JESUS. If not now, maybe he will turn to JESUS in jail. Anything would be better than the course he is on now. You and I both know that he is headed for destruction and maybe even death. Nobody can force him to turn his life around, but I pray that he will look up from the gutter and finally understand who he needs - JESUS! Brother, please don't feel bad that you couldn't help him or rescue him. It appears that only JESUS can help him now, and I will pray that is exactly what will happen. I pray that this young man will listen to the calling of JESUS.

Love In Christ,
Tom

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NASB  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

I appreciate the prayers Brother Tom. This young man does here the Lord calling. He is allowing the drugs and alcohol to stand in the way.

I do feel sad but I realise that there is nothing I personally can do. It is up to Jesus and to him.

He just got out of surgery. They had to do a triple by-pass. On by-pass covered to blockages one of which was a 100% blockage. The Dr said that blockage covered a small area so there wasn't any significant damage done because of it. The valve replacement also went well.

Thank you cris. We all have missed you here. I hope that you have been doing well also.

I just talked to my brother tonight. I can't go see him because I have a bit of a virus of some sort and can't risk giving it to him. He was having a problem getting his kidneys to start working again but today they kicked in and seem to be on the uphill trend. That is to be expected though as when a person goes through open heart surgery they shut down all body functions for a period and it takes awhile for some of them to start back up.

Hi PR,

I didn't log out-----------------I got a trojan horse (the first one I've ever gotten).  I've been working trying to get it off my computer.  I hope I was successful.  We'll see.

I'm happy to hear your brother's kidneys kicked in and seem to be working.  Let's just pray they continue uphill!!!

Hey, I hope you're taking care of that virus.  Are you?  You better be!  Drink lots of water and rest as much as you can.  You'll be feeling well in no time flat. :)

When I was using windows ME i was able to download and use any program that was also compatible with Windows 2000. This program says it is compatible with all of Windows 2000 so I would think it should work. I do remember having an earlier version of this program on my Windows ME so unless they have changed it, it should work.

I am going to have to update I see. I have an older version and the properties compatibility page shows it being in the Windows 95 mode and doesn't have an XP mode on it. It has been working just fine though. I would imagine it would work better with the newer version.

The version I have, Microsoft AntiSpyware Version:  1.0.614, also shows compatible to Windows 98 / ME on the properties page.

Cris,

I use XP and I really don't know if they have it for other Windows versions. I'll check but I think it's for only the newer stuff. Sorry about that.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 18:2 NASB  The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

That's okay.....................I never would have thought about that either.

I don't know what the red star Pastor Roger on the properties page means.  I can't click on it. ;D ::) :-[

I'm not going to try it tonight.  It's too late.  I still don't have the other one downloaded yet.

Think I'll hit the hay.  I'm falling asleep.  Past my bedtime.
Tomorrow.........................

Grace and peace,
cris

Funnier this morning than it was last night! ;D  Talk about crazy....................I'm laughing at something that's completely incomprehensible.

Am I supposed to try to download BEP's link?  Or, am I supposed to download what you have?

BTW, this computer is slowing up on me this morning.  I don't know if it's just a problem with my dial-up, MSN or what.  This does happen from time to time, so I'll just have to wait and see.

Grace and peace,

Cris,

I just downloaded the version that Brother Tom showed you in his link. It should work just fine on Windows ME. If it doesn't then once you have it installed just right click on the icon then go to properties. When that window comes up click on the compatibility tab and check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

Then select Windows ME. Click the apply button and try it again. It should work fine for you then.

Thanks cris, we just had a few power outages not for very long tho. I hope you won't have to format you hard drive cris. I use spybot it's free and it has worked good for me, there are a few that you can choose from. My computer got a worm that was very hard to get rid of and spybot helped. Hope everything works out.

Is there anything I can pray for you about?

Dreamweaver, tomorrow is the day.. I just want to let you know I am praying for you, that God will guide the doctor's hands and that you will have a supernatural recovery. I know it will be hard, but if you can at least post once as soon as you are better, we want to know how everything went.
Peace and Agape love to you. Remember God has His angels watching over you, and our prayers are with you.  ;)

This is the first time I ever got a trojan.  I have a bunch of stuff I use everyday, including Spybot, AVG, pest patrol, Adaware, Spysweeper, Ccleaner and I'm constantly defragging.  I sure hope I got it and that everything will be okay.

Is there anything you can pray about?  Of course.  Just remember me in your prayer list.  It's unspoken and God knows what it is.  Just ask Him to open a door that I can walk through with His protection and blessing.  Thanks, air!

How's your grandson doing?

I will pray for you  :). I wake up in the middle of the night and I automatically start praying usually I start praying for my husband first and for some reason the other night God led me to pray for my friends at this forum. I felt so much better I just drifted of to sleep again.
My grandson is doing so much better, my daughter took my advice and she and her husband pray with him at bedtime and she pleads the Blood over her family daily. They also moved into a new house, I went to visit them on Saturday, and my grandson looks wonderful. Thank you for asking. :D

I think you must have gotten your definition of the word, grief, from that other dictionary.  You know, the abner one! ;D ;D

I'm glad youre lovin' that new computer.  Boy, would I like to get one that was totally my own, with total protection from them thar varmits that infect whatever they can infect.  I'm surprised this was the first time (after lots of years) for a trojan.  Would like to know how this one got in and others didn't.  I think there were quite a few temp files infected-------------8, maybe.  I really don't remember the exact number.

This computer is still running a bit slow.  Every time I post, I get a white screen and have to wait.  Other times (not today), it goes relatively quick.

Brother/Sister Cris,  :D

Most of that slow time and "white screen" wasn't your computer. That was some sort of a server problem that had nothing to do with your computer. I did report it to ADMIN, but he said there was nothing wrong on his end and it could have been any number of things with server links. Most of that stuff is over my head. I understand how small nets of servers link and work OR large numbers of small computers linking, but I don't have much of a clue about the monster computers that make the Internet work.

Ref. that computer that isn't subject to problems and attacks, it doesn't exist as far as I know. Hackers hit monster computers on a fairly regular basis. If I understand this correctly, hitting a monster computer negatively effects many smaller servers and computers that are routed through it. Everything usually keeps working because there are nearly always numerous alternate routes, but it does slow things down. It's called a web because there are so many alternate routes, but there are usually tons of folks using all the routes. I'm sure that many can explain this better than I did, but I tried.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 5:20-21 NASB  The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I was with the Navy when the internet was first derived. It is set up much as the Navy did their communications as for alternates and backups. It is a wonderful system in regards to that part. Without using graphics I couldn't explain it any better than you did.

Thank you for asking. He is home and doing fine considering what he has gone through. He was able to go to his granddaughters birthday party a couple of days ago even though it wore him out.

He is planning on celebrating Thanksgiving with his wifes family this year. Fortunately it is a very short trip so I am sure he will do fine.
