57526  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Who Defines "Common Good"? on: June 29, 2004, 11:23:47 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to JudgeNot,

WOW!, what a question!   Grin

Bill, Hillary, their dog, and Monica together couldn't define the "Common Good". It appears that our entire body of elected officials have a pretty hard time doing that most of the time.

However, if I had to choose someone in the above group to make a decision, I would go with the dog.   Grin

Back to a serious note, God's will is not being done in our nation. Our nation has turned its back on Almighty God. There have been several cases where members of the legislature have taken a moral and Biblical stand only to be chewed up and spit out. If there are like members in the legislature, they are too chicken to stand up. I think it is a true statement that our legislature cares little about their decisions being within the will of Almighty God. However, they are concerned about the special interest groups, those who make big campaign contributions, and not ruffling any feathers at all.

As an obvious result, most politicians are gutless wimps who will tell you whatever you want to hear. I apologize for being so shy on this topic.   Grin

Oklahoma Howdy to All,

My fondest desire has already been granted, and I feel extremely blessed. I wanted a loving family with Christ as the head of the family. Now, I pray that my grandchildren will have the same thing.

There is some excellent advice here from many. I would summarize what I believe to be the most important things in life:

1 - Real happiness is always in and through Jesus Christ.

2 - Things don't give joy. The real riches in this short life are not material things.

3 - Pray and seek the will of Jesus. Wait upon the Lord and follow the path that will be most pleasing to HIM.

Love In Christ,
Tom

What tooth?  *Hears odd crunching noise*

Grin  Well, I've called the Salvation Army and told them to put me on the list for another pair of used dentures.

I guess I deserve that... You're absoulutly right Tibby , no I have seen neither movie mainly because of the reason I mentioned. However  the trailers for these movies offended me. I do not care if there is a good moral or not. I will never post another review w/o seeing a movie first. I apologize If I offended anyone with what I posted.

I think that most of Tibby's post was tongue in cheek. Regardless, there is nothing wrong with your opinion, and I share that opinion. There should be a concern about what effect films of this type will have on babes in Christ and those seriously searching for Christ. I don't see Jesus or the Holy Bible as being a Hollywood topic for humor, sarcasm, etc. Jesus and the Holy Bible are the most serious topics we have in this short life.

Tibby will say that I'm an old fundamentalist, but I don't trust Hollywood with the souls of the lost, and I don't appreciate Hollywood making sport, humor, and entertainment out of Salvation, our Lord and Saviour, the Holy Bible, and any other Christian topic that is a matter of life and death for eternity.

Tibby - I am an old fundamentalist, and I doubt that I will change.   Cheesy

By the way, I sent all of my oreos to Allinall. However, I ate all of the white fillings and appear to be missing a tooth from my dentures. Would you ask him to please return the tooth.   Grin
57531  Theology / Debate / Re:Correct vs. incorrect interpretations on: June 29, 2004, 03:44:43 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

I doubt the troll pack with be with us long, and that includes 4a.

I have reported myself to ADMIN for calling "4a" 4a, a horrible transgression.   Grin   Grin   Grin

This childish troll attack from a bunch of militant atheists is so sad that it's almost funny. After all, most of them would have to be our intellectual superiors, and they are here to rescue us from Jesus. WOW!, I bet most of them are in college and in their late teens. I'm impressed and taking notes.   Grin   Grin

Please have patience. We will either trim their little horns or make them disappear.

Love In Christ,
Tom
57532  Theology / Debate / Re:a question for all of you on: June 29, 2004, 03:31:22 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

Here's a quote from one of my dad's studies that I reviewed recently. He is with his Lord and Saviour, so he will not be here to debate, and neither will I.

"Since all are born in sin, are infants lost?  Infants die physically because of Adam's sin, not because they have sinned - Romans 5:12-14.  Infants and idiots do not know what it means to transgress any law, and sin is not imputed when there is no law - Romans 5:13.  Babies went to a place of bliss in the Old Testament - II Samuel 12:23.  They are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven - Matthew 18:3-5, 10; 19:14.  Infants know nothing of rejecting Christ, and that is what causes one to be lost - John 3:15-18.  (Some reach the age of accountability before others do)."

Oklahoma Howdy to Sincereheart,

Sister, thank you sincerely for sharing that with us. I feel extremely blessed to still have a loving and Godly mother living as an example to our entire family. She is 84 years young, loves Jesus first, and has plenty of love left over for us.

Oklahoma Howdy to All,

Sincereheart gave the most accurate description of black-eyed peas.   Grin  I don't know anything about the music group.

Black-eyed peas are a very simple, but delicious, lentil that folks in the South really enjoy. Yes, they are also known as cow-peas. There are tons of popular dishes that contain black-eyed peas. However, one of the best meals has black-eyed peas as the main course.

Here's one of my favorites:

You slow cook some black-eyed peas with some bacon bits and a touch of jalapeno as the main dish. One must add fresh cornbread and buttermilk for a meal fit for a king. We are talking about:

Finger lickin', lip smackin' GOOD!

I would give more details about the cooking procedures, but I fear that Northerners might steal the recipe.   Grin

LOL, trolls are fun to let them see the word of God. Sometimes without pushing they do get the word. Although with the 3 I have seen lately............. I think one is starting to understand, where we come from.
I saw bep last night had posted, and thats a good thing.

Oklahoma Howdy to Dreamweaver,

Yes, I am back with  new computer, and it almost works.   Cheesy  The old one died completely before I could copy all of my personal files, but I did have a fairly good and recent backup that has reduced most of the panic.   Cheesy I have a new operating system that is not very fun to learn. I am now an XP Administrator of a one person, one computer network.   Grin

We used to have a definition of trolls on the forum. My last count indicates we may have as many as eight working together as a group. UM?, is group the right term? Or, maybe it's:

Herd
Pack
Gang
Covey
Coven

Regardless, it is so fun to watch them get tangled up in their horns when they stampede.   Grin  They are so self-destructive that they must hide and remain completely still in places free of sharp objects. They heal and stampede again. They are definitely an endangered species, but it appears there is no interest in setting up a troll preservation program or a refuge. UM??, I wonder why.   Grin

57537  Theology / Bible Study / Re:I supposed I knew my Bible... on: June 28, 2004, 04:58:41 PM
Oklahoma Howdy to Heidi,

I've almost stopped using man's tags, labels, and denominations to say anything about beliefs. It appears they all mean something different to each person. What might be true in my home about a particular group is not true somewhere else, so confusion reigns rampant.

I know that studying the Holy Bible should be at the top of the list in getting to know our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Following the contrasts, comparisons, and references in any study is completely necessary. It also is a joy for those who love to study HIS WORD. It simply creates a hunger for more.

Oklahoma Howdy to CrystalPC,

I'm sorry to be so late in welcoming you to the forum. I've been without a computer.

I firmly believe in the Holy Trinity, and I also know how hard it is to witness to those in Islam. I enjoyed hearing about you and know that you will find many here who share your beliefs.

Jump in and have some fun.
