62  Theology / Debate / Re: Should the church promote young marriages to deal with sexual immorality? on: April 22, 2007, 09:43:30 AM
Young Marriage? Young by whose standards? In the 30s, many girls were married by the time they were 15. In the 1800's a woman was considered an old maid if she wasn't married by 19. I don't think age has much to do with it. I think society has pushed sex down peoples throats to where it is the main thing on most peoples minds. Nearly every ad you read or see on TV is for something to look younger, feel younger, be slimmer, attract the opposite sex through sight, smell or whatever. We can thank Hollywood for much of this. To try to cover the sin by having a marriage license isn't going to work if they go into the marriage with the idea of "If it doesn't work out , we can always get a divorce." Lets face it folks, America has become a disposable Nation. Instead of fixing and reusing, we throw away and get new. It is sad, but marriage is one of the disposable things anymore. Not as far as God is concerned, but by the people themselves. JMHO Smiley

I am hoping the Patriot Guard will be there to show those people the door. The Phelps group give Christianity a bad name.

That Moose had better stay out of my garden. Might better put it in with my daughter's goats.  Cheesy

66  Entertainment / Animals and Pets / Re: Loves Sweet Parting on: April 21, 2007, 08:55:35 PM
I have lost many good friends in my life. Some were furry, others had feathers and a few were human. Grin
There are several animals that died of old age that will always have a piece of my heart. It is sad we have to lose our old friends, but at least we get to keep all that love they gave us.
67  Entertainment / Animals and Pets / Re: Robin on: April 21, 2007, 08:49:00 PM
Where are you located? That does not look like the Robins we have here in SE Oklahoma. It is a beautiful bird though. Smiley
68  Entertainment / Animals and Pets / Re: What's your favorite animal? on: April 21, 2007, 08:47:10 PM
I don't know that I have a favorite animal. I love them all, except snakes. I can't stand a snake. The only good snake is a dead snake as far as I am concerned.  Grin
I have had many kinds of animal in my life. I am one of those people that animals seem to trust and look to as a mother. When I was growing up in Central Oklahoma, the Game Wardens would bring me orphant animals they needed a Mother for. Other people did to. We lived a short ways from a nice State Lake. My Daddy worked on a marina at the Lake. There is no telling how many people he sent to our house so kids could see wild animals up close. Most were city kids who went nuts over all the different farm animals we had also.
I love all animals, I just like some better than others.  Cheesy

Those pretty birds of prey are some nasty eaters.  Grin
I think the Redtailed Hawk and the Hoot Owl were nastier than the possums, racoons or the skunks. A caged Armadillo smells pretty bad to. I sure was glad to see several of my "Babies" get strong enough to be turned loose in the wild again.  Tongue
69  Theology / Debate / Re: Abortion Poll For Christians Only on: April 21, 2007, 08:14:56 PM
All I know is this.... a sperm and an egg ONLY create one thing... a HUMAN BEING .... to STOP that development is: WRONG!  NO ONE knows .. only GOD,  if that sperm and egg will make it all the way to making THAT Human Being!!

Amen to that. God has the final say so. For man to try to take the responability on themselves just isn't right.

71  Theology / Debate / Re: Abortion Poll For Christians Only on: April 21, 2007, 12:06:48 PM
Many would argue your overall position based on this statement, as all human cells have a certain amount of blood and oxygen in them. It is enough to sustain them until they are able to attach and receive more.

The Bible tells us that:

Jer 1:5  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Personally, I think the morning after pill is just another means for man to sanctify immoral behaviour.

So do you also believe all the little floaters that don't attach normally have souls?  I personally don't. I believe the soul comes with attachment. That is when the first blood or oxygen is delivered. There may be a trace of blood in the cells, but I believe it is the attachment that delivers life and soul.
The morning after pill may be an easy way of covering up immoral behavior for some. I don't know exactly how to think on it. I don't believe a child will be concieved if God doesn't want it to be, but in the case of rape or incest, I just don't know.  Smiley
72  Theology / Apologetics / Re: Is Jesus God? - Part Two on: April 21, 2007, 01:31:03 AM
Many posters here seem to "get it" others are having trouble with the trinity. Perhaps this will help them understand it better.
Let's think of the trinity in terms of a Storm. God the Father would be Thunder.  Jesus would be Lightning. The Holy Spirit would be the wind. Each one is a seperate entity, but all have the full power of the Storm and are inseperatable.  Smiley
73  Theology / Debate / Re: Abortion Poll For Christians Only on: April 21, 2007, 12:41:48 AM
The Bible says thou shall not kill. This means murder. To murder someone they have to be alive. So the question comes in as to when life begins. Someone said it was when egg and sperm come together. This isn't right. Sperm and egg are only part of the equation. Over 50% of pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion or miscarriage before Mom even knows she is pregnant. Many times a fertilized egg will enter the womb, but never attach. Are these little floaters really babies? NO! In the Bible it says life is in the blood. It also refers to breath. So life would begin when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterus wall. When that little floater gets it's first drop of blood or first molecule of oxygen, then it is alive. To do anything to remove the little guy would amount to murder. To take birth control pills or the morning after pill to keep the egg from attaching is not the same as an abortion. After an egg is fertilized, it takes several days for it to come down the tube and into the womb. The morning after pill causes it to not attach. If it was never attached, it was never alive.

the you know what  coleslaw recipe

1      head          cabbage -- finely chopped
    1      medium        carrot -- shredded
      1/3  cup           granulated sugar
      1/2  teaspoon      salt
      1/8  tablespoon    pepper
      1/4  cup           milk
      1/2  cup           mayonnaise
      1/4  cup           buttermilk
    1 1/2  tablespoons   white vinegar
    2 1/2  tablespoons   lemon juice

Be sure the cabbage and carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces about the
size of rice kernels.  Combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, butte
rmilk, vinegar and lemon juice and beat until smooth.  Add the cabbage and carr
ots and mix well.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Your recipe sounds good, but not like KFC. Smiley I bet mine is easier to.  Tongue

I take a medium sized head of cabbage. Chop it real fine. Shred a carrot or two. (This varies from KFC, but is a good addition to coleslaw, One finely chopped apple.) Mix all together. Then for the dressing. I take about a half cup of miricle whip, a quarter cup of milk, quarter cup sugar or equivelent artificial sweetner. A tiny bit of vinegar gives it a zestier taste and also keeps the apple from turning brown. I usually don't use the vinegar unless I add the apple. I mix the dressing all together then fold it into the cabbage. The Coleslaw needs to set for an hour or so to get the same flavor as KFC.
