This is a test post. I collect carnivorous plants, and a newly discovered species from Australia that I have in my collection has what are believed to be "egg mimics". Several plants have these, and usually are used to ward away preditors. They are growths in the shape of insect eggs. Here is a picture I took of this plant and a closeup of the organs Perhaps these look like eggs that a parasitic wasp feeds on, and when the wasp comes down, it gets trapped by the plant's tenticals and is eaten. I don't know how anyone can believe in the theory of evolution when they study plants. They are just too complicated.

Thanks, that was interesting. I checked a few other commentators, and the word may actually be female, i.e. a little daughter, but they all seem to agree that it's something to do with the physical eye and it's preciousness and vulnerablity, which is different than Ironside, but whoever is right it's great food for thought.

Theology / Debate / Re:Over 13,000 Civilians Killed in Iraq

The British and the Russians were probably the least effective allied troops in both wars. The French suffered the brunt of the German offensive during WW1 for a variety of reasons.
One reason that the French collapsed so fast was German propaganda that said "The British will fight until the last drop of French blood has been spilt". That contained more than a grain of truth, and was effective propaganda with the French.
The main way that the UK suffered was financial, and they are still recovering from the two world wars. The Marshal Plan helped the UK much more than Germay, for what it's worth.

Get serious my friend. The Polish figures counted a large population of their Jewish people - 3 million. Poland had 6 million deaths including 3 million Jews, roughly 20% of its prewar population. However, as I pointed out - this total did not include the the 6 million Jews who perished in the Final Solution of Nazi Germany or the 17 million dead as a result of Japan's policies in Asia from 1931 to 1945. My friend, I moderate a WW2 warcrimes site, and I assure you that the 3 million Polish Jews are part of the six million figure. By mocking me you will only make a fool of yourself. Other countries lost less, e.g. Austria 20,000, Holland 100,000 or so, Hungary 200,000 to 400,000 thousand depending on who's figures you trust.

Timmy, You really aren't any good at this mind-reading stuff! It's ashame, because certain people have an ugly habit of making statements and then running away, like the woman who wont say clearly what our justification for the Iraqi war was, or the guy who thinks Kerry funding stem cell research is bad, but Bush's funding is somehow different in principle. Now, how can we reach unity this way? I have 7 homeschooled children, the oldest in college, and I want a better country for them.

No, I'm a Calvinist. Perhaps you've heard of us? The Mayflower, Pilgrims? You know, the people who founded this republic.
Now, without excuses concerning your sex, what were the justifications for this war.

Welcome back La Vie B! Now, just to set the record straight...
...if you believe in growing babies to kill for their stem cells...vote for Kerry. Some of you seem to be bordering on idol worship when it comes to Bush. Listen, friend, I really want to help you. President Bush signed a law to give money to do research on stem cells. Flinging around silly rhetoric is no substitute for the kind of thoughtful debate that is necessary to get our country back on the right track. And to the silly remark about the Berlin Wall, the West Germans and Hungarians did much more that Reagan ever did to bring down that wall.

My Note: Is this socialism? Who's going to buy equipment, open new businesses, and create new jobs? Who's going to help the already struggling businesses around the country? Who pays taxes when these businesses go under and bankrupt? The Bible allows just over 6% tax, anything more is wrong, so it's a question of degree, not principle. They both want to spend to much, can't you see that? Do you think God is pleased with paying people to do research on stem cells from murdered babies?

The differences of the two candidates on the questions of gay marriage, stem cell research, abortion, etc.. are differences of degree, not principle. They both approve, and in Bush's case have actually taken my tax dollars and used it to do stem cell research.
