Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Church Leaves Man to Die

2 Peter 3:9 states: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Let's not jest about someone going to hell. God doesn't enjoy the thought that any of His creation should perish in hell. How about we pray for those elderly people, who's days are at a close and will meet their Maker soon. Let us pray that they DO come to repentance, that the peace of the Lord come upon them, and all His understanding. That they seek Him first. Also, lets not point out the speck in their eyes when we are all obviously stumbling because of the log of judgement in our own eyes. Harsh but meant with love, truly! Peace! *ducks, for fear of bibles being thrown my way*

thats a pretty good one. My pastor used this one in one of his teachings a while ago: Deacon Brown was repainting their little white country church. He soon realized that there was more church to cover than there was paint in the bucket, so he added some water to stretch the supply. After he finished painting and was cleaning the brush, it suddenly began to rain and the diluted paint ran down the walls of the church. Deacon Brown raised his eyes to heaven and said," Oh Lord, what do i do now?" There was a loud clap of thinder followed by a voice from above that boomed, "Repaint, and thin no more."

Again, i must say that intentions, what is in your heart is what counts. If a person feels guilty for joining in with the commercialism of Christmas, maybe the Lord is speaking to you to do more. My point is that the Holy Spirit hasn't told me not to put up my Christmas tree, or send out Chrsitams cards, or buy my only child Christmas gifts. I did obey and make most of my gifts this year for other family members, and i did obey by having my daughter pick out toys to give for Toys for Tots. Maybe the Lord directs some to feed the homeless. This year the Holy Spirit has directed me to make Christmas dinner fo my father-in-law,who has terminal cancer so that he can have a blessed Christmas for the last time(with whom my husband and i have had many, many "disagreements" with, to the point of not talking for 4 months at a time because he put his girlfriend before his own granddaughter. we only live a mile away!). The body of Christ is not mass of mindless beings... the Holy Spirit deals with each of us in our own way, because though we are one body, each part is unique and has it's purpose. i think it is unfair to say that just because a person doesn't have a problem with understanding the true meaning of what Christmas is supposed to be- the celebration of the birth of our Redeemer- that that person is somehow less in God's eyes for putting up a Christmas tree. If we are obedient to what the Lord wants for us, then "its all good".

Wow, Hunibuni, that was an awsome word of advice you gave. Gives me something to think about. I am a stay at home mom, and i don't drive so i get lonely alot. That is why i came here . but you are right, i need to do some soul searching. I do have one friend from where i used to live, California. we don't talk to each other every day, but we do make an effort to keep in touch. it has been a "roller coaster" of a friendship, but we figure we have worked so hard at it, we should keep in touch
