NBC at it again.

NEW YORK — Britney Spears will guest star on an episode of "Will & Grace," NBC announced Tuesday.

The pop star will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes' character, Jack, who hosts his own talk show, on the April 13 episode, the network said.

Jack's fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, leading to Spears contributing a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."

As a young girl, the 24-year-old Spears was a regular on "The Mickey Mouse Club." After becoming a pop singer, she starred in the critically panned 2002 film "Crossroads."

Last September, Spears gave birth to her first child, son Sean Preston, with husband Kevin Federline.

"Will & Grace," which also stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing and Megan Mullally, is in its eighth and final season. It airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. (EST).

Its my understanding the NBC has pulled this episode already PR.   Don't have the link to the news article, but I recall reading it earlier.

That is good news. Hopefully it is because they had already learned from the first time around.

I found an article on it. The episode never got off the writing table and has been changed to eliminate any reference to "Cruci-fixins" or any hint at a Christian characterization at all.

Will & Grace story not as AFA has stated

Daily Journal reports

TUPELO - After the Tupelo-based American Family Association pressured NBC to pull the plug on one TV series recently, rumors began to swirl about an upcoming episode of the popular "Will & Grace" show on which pop story Britney Spears will make a guest appearance.

Tupelo's NBC affiliate, WTVA, is one of many stations hearing from angry viewers who were asking them to pull an episode with Spears they claim mocks the crucifixion of Christ and denigrates Catholics.

"NBC, fresh from giving us the anti-Christian The Book of Daniel,' has decided to hit back at the Christian community by presenting an episode of Will and Grace which mocks the crucifixion of Christ," the AFA Web site stated. "On the April 13 edition of NBC's Will and Grace, Britney Spears will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes' homosexual character, Jack, who hosts his own talk show."

Ed Bishop at WTVA reported Friday afternoon that the AFA claims were untrue.

"Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of "Will & Grace" which, in fact, has yet to be written," read a news release from Bishop and NBC.

"The reference to Cruci-fxins' will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all. We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this misinformation has offended them," NBC added.

That's exactly what I thought. They changed the script because they didn't want a repeat of Daniels Book and a loss of more revenue and lower ratings than they already have. Naturally to accomplish that they are going to back track and say what they can to cover themselves.
