From Dust...
My feet are so tired and heavy from trying to move
through
the dust that lays in thick swirls around my feet -
dust from all the yesterdays gone by that
never ended complete.
Suppress it - regress it - digress it
but just keep in silent retreat
if it all begins to surface ... open your heart
and hit the button marked "delete."
"Be all they want you to be" ...
but it's ok because you don't even remember now
who you are -
"Smile, be happy" ...
but don't let them come too close
or they will never let you get too far.
My mind is weary - my heart is not far behind ...
Dear Lord, only You can make this pain,
that is me,
to cease.
 I kneel
and with my knees making their own new swirls ...
in the dust I write,
"wash me, please."
