Bronzesnake,

Brother John, I think that the cars were about 6" long. They had outstanding detail, and I think they were replicas of Dale Earnhart's last three winning cars. At the same time, I could have bought a replica of the trailer he carried them in, but that was more than I could afford to spend. My son just left them sealed in their boxes and put them up in the closet after Dale Earnhart died.

My son really didn't want them to become a serious collector. He just wanted those specific cars to put in a display case, and the Earnhart cars are the only ones he has. They do look nice in a display case, but I really think that he needs to put these in a safety deposit box.   Cheesy  He just got out of the Navy with a degree in nuclear engineering, and he really wants to get his master's degree. It's ironic that these little cars would go a long way in paying for it.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Revelation 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

When you said your son "didn't want them to become a serious collector. He just wanted those specific cars to put in a display case," That is the way we should approach any hobby or collection. I collect things that I like. It doesn't matter to me whether it's worth anything or not, or whether anyone else likes it - as long as it appeals to me.

But then every once in a while all the pieces fall into place and we end up with a real treasure! For me it was getting a Batmobile for peanuts! Your son's time came with his Dale Earnhart cars! You said the cars were about 6" that tells me they are the highly sought after 1/24 scale!!! and you tell me he has Earnhart's last three winning cars!! Cheesy Woweee!! Grin

There's a wee gift for ya on the next post Tom...Hope you enjoy!!

What will people think when they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do when they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, cause there ain't no disgussing the truth

Thanks - I copied that to my computer. It's time to take a short break and play with graphics.   Cheesy  I haven't done that in some time.

Bronzesnake and Dreamweaver - you've both done great jobs as moderators. I'm going to ask ADMIN to give both of you a 50% pay hike with paid vacations and paid days off.   Grin
