Greetings in the name of Christ our Saviour,

For those who have heard of Yoga.

What do you think Yoga means in context of our religion ?.

Is it against Christianity ?.

Some basic Information about Yoga is.

There are three types of Yoga in the west: Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Tantra Yoga.

They are begotten from the Hindhu religion. In the Religion itself Yoga is divided into four types for the different nature of Humans.

Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Raja Yoga.

The main instruction manual available for Yoga in the west is.

[The Sivanandha Companion to YOGA] [ By: Lucy Lidell, Fireside Books, 1983]

On Page 18 you will find this phrase-

"All paths [of yoga] lead ultimately to the same destination - to the union with Brahman...."

Brahman being the Creator deity of the Hindhu otherwise known has the life force of the universe.

When Yoga is considered a form of health and physical fitness why is it rooted to the Hindhu religion ?

Will we sin if we practice it?

Is there anything biblical that refutes the practise of yoga or the likes of it ?

With Love & Prayer

If it is meditation that you want then meditate on the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word, not with an empty mind. There is nothing worse than being empty headed for a Christian.

If it is the physical aspect, the relaxation exercises, that you want there are many such great exercises without having to get into the mysticism of yoga.

Yes...

Exd 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exd 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
