I would like to share with you a vision that the Lord gave to me in 1980. Other than sharing it with my wife, I have not spoken of this vision with very many others for the primary reason that most who call themselves by the name of Christ have been, and are, ill-equipped to "hear" what is being said. In the past 4 years, though, I have increasingly encountered some who are both strong enough, and "fundamental" enough to see, and understand.
It is my hope that sharing this with you will prove a blessing, and also ignite a fervent desire to "work while there is yet light."
I saw the earth, and encircling the globe was a fence...just a common ordinary fence. There were people on both sides of the fence. On one side there was green grass, flowers, etc. A rather pleasant scene, but nothing outstanding. On the other, there were ponds and lakes, rivers, waterfalls...all in all a very attractive looking place to be.
By far the vast majority of the people I saw were sitting astride the fence, with one foot on either side.
Suddenly, the fence began to change, and it became a sword, a long sharp blade. As this happened, a few managed to get off the fence, and went to one side or the other, but most stayed put, and the fence began to cut them up the middle.
By the time the fence had completely changed into a sharp blade, and the people riding it were cut asunder, the land on one side that had looked so attractive suddenly turned into a wasteland, with the people on that side gasping for water, crawling around on their hands and knees while demonic creatures were poking things at them.
The Word of the Lord came to me, "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (from Heb. 4), followed by :"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears" (2 Tim 4), and lastly "For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (1Pet 4).
Over the past 25 years, I have seen more and more the truth of that vision....the world, and the church, is riding a fence, satisfied with trying to have the best of two worlds. In the past 5 years, I have seen a rising up of a few, a remnant, that is insistent upon believing in God's Word, not some manmade tradition or interpretation, and preaching the stark facts....sin, righteousness, and judgment to come. And I have increasingly seen the "church" reject emphatically these words.
The Word of God tells us that shortly before the man of sin is revealed, and when Christ comes for His, there will be a "great falling away," or rejection of His truth and Word. While such rejection has been going on for two millennia, I believe that we have reached the point in time when the greatest "falling away" is occurring.
I think we would all do well to do as Isaiah said after he saw the Lord lifted high in the temple, and Isaiah recognized his uncleaness. The Lord God cleansed Isaiah, and then asked a question...."who shall I send?"
Isaiah said "here am I....send me."
