Is this guy interested?

I am on another Christian message board...

There is this guy there who has told me these things...

"I like your theology"  (since religion is so important to me I found that very endearing)

"I miss you.  Is something wrong?"  (after I was away only 2 days)

He also went out exploring my website and found my real name and prefers to use that in private correspondences (not on open board).

He has shared with me some personal information that he has refused to share when others ask him on the open board.

We have IMed a few times just briefly.

Since I have not been looking for such a long time...
Is this guy just being polite or showing minimal interest?

Maybe he thinks of you as a friend.  
Of course, I'm basing that on personal experience. There are a select few, on this forum in particular, that I think very highly of. When they're gone, I miss them. When they're down, I cry for them. When they're happy, I rejoice for them. I keep them in my prayers.
Some are male, some are female, and some I have no idea.

I'm married to the most wonderful and godly man who asks for updates on these people and prays for them, also.

I think he's curious to learn a little more about you. As long as you are okay with that then let it happen and see where it goes.
