Wow! First off, I'm not a Christian. So I will definitely not try to quote any scripture here, because odds are I would get it all wrong. I was actually just wandering the net reading boards when I came across this one (registered just a second ago to post actually). Anyways, I felt I really had to answer this. To start, I'm a democrat (at least registered as one, but not too happy with my parties choice at the moment), though I don't harbor any ill will to republicans, I like some of their policies its just democrats won me over with some others (mainly tax issues). To begin, I really have to agree, this government is Godless (mostly), and it is supposed to be. Not meaning it to be an abomination or a curse against religion. But its purpose was to not reflect the views of religion in the everyday runnings of the country. It was done this way because of the persicution laid down upon those in England who didn't conform to their views. We started anew here vowing to never misrepresent anyone, and to never force our views on those who don't follow them. We are the impartial country, the place where all people can freely come and believe whatever they want. Yes a large majority of it is Christian (as it has always been), but why does that mean government should cater to them? Do we wish to repeat the mistakes of the past, by alienating our own people? In my opinion, I think both sides need to step back and evaluate the situation. In fact, the mere fact that there are such divided sides should tell everyone something. Republican and Democrats should not be fighting in this way, it is wrong of both sides to continue this way. Now I understand issues are at hand, and of course we have big disagreements. I'm a researcher, I work with computers and study in artificial intelligence and robotics. My goal in life is to help people with faster systems to diagnose problems, and mechanical replacements for lost limbs, and damage to organs. Yet I know people who would call my work vain, and that I just want to feel like God, building intelligent machines. All I know is that this attitude seems reflected towards a lot of groups. And towards a lot of people I know who are told to feel bad for trying to help this world. And to Clirus, I would just like to know, why? why discredit people who lack your beliefs? Just because someone isn't a Christian it doesn't mean they are wicked or a liar. In my eyes, I see no conspiracy, I see two sides fighting each other, each trying to convince everyone else that they are right. And you know what, I don't think either of them are. No one will be even close to what is right until they stop yelling and seeing boogie men, and start juat talking. Maybe then we can all agree on what is to be done.
