Been awhile since I've posted anything and I certinaly didn't want to start out asking for help.

My wife needs prayer for a quick recovery from a recent surgery on her knee. The surgery went well and she is doing great, but a bit on the down side since she can't do much. I hate to hear her sob about being temporarily crippled.

I need strength to follow through with confronting my doctor about some health issues that have been dismissed in the past. I have been able to endure this pain/discomfort for 6 yrs now, but am losing the battle. Something is wrong with me and I don't know what. Military doctors are not the best people to go see about anything. If you complain to much your a faker, and if you don't complain and it gets serious then your a fool for not saying anything. I am trying to get seen by my Doctor, but the appointment books are filled...another fine military decision SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS ONLY. I feel that if I had a regular civilian doctor I would have been taken seriously a long time ago.

I am concerned/scared that my persistance may get me medicaly discharged. Thats part of the reason I haven't pushed sooner. With a wife and 3 children to support I could take some pain. Not anymore. I'm not even 30 yet and I hurt like my Dad who is 58. (we talk about it alot).

The only thing new to me that may have triggered this was a certin series of vaccinations (anthrax). Maybe I am looking for a logical reason for my ailments, but it all started after those shots, and upon further investigation my problems fall into the reactions catagory.

I am running head long into a brick wall lined with lead. I need a helmet and a jack hammer. If you can spare a prayer my wife and I could use them.

Love

I am familar with your situation. I have had a nose infection for 9 years now. And the many doctors I have been to are not doing a good job at treating it. And my parents dont believe me when I tell them what is wrong with me.

First of all, I know how annoying it can be when "you are a faker if you keep complaining" and "a fool for not having said anything about the pain sooner". If your doctors feel, "Oh, you're just making up these symptons" let them know how angry you feel when they think as such. Say "If I"m not feeling any pain why would I lie about feeling pain. If you can't find what is wrong with me, then obviously you are not good at doing your job. The pain I feel is serious, and I do not want to further compromise my health because of your unbelief or your ignorance of my condition."

Praying that God will restore your heatlh and your wife's.

I finally got an appointment with a doctor.

Alot of blood was taken. Reffereals to specialists were made, and the Doctor was very helpful. Stage one has begun. I spent over an hour with the Doctor, and got half way down my grocery list of things that are wrong.

It looks like I may have rheumitoid (sp?) arthritius, just waiting on the blood test results. If its not rheumitiod it could be osteriod arthrtius, but there will be a bone specialist in my future. The outlook either way is a dreary one filled with pain. It doesn't bother me though, the prayers I've gotton so far have worked so much.

My wife's spirits have picked up, and I have the courage to face uncertinity.

I'll update as soon as I can.

well where do I begin.........

I have seen one specialist so far, still waiting to see 2 more, but the medicines I have been given seem to be working.

My wife is healing just fine from her surgery, and it seems that her mental well being is doing good.

We are trying to buy the house we are currently renting so alot of our energies have been devoted to planning the restoration.

My wife had an accident in her truck on the 10th of Sept. She was shakken but unharmed. The lady she hit went to the hospital to be checked out, but she is fine (praise God!!!!). Now we are stewing with the possibility of loosing her truck due to insurance company totaling it out. That wouldn't be good, especially since it is mainly cosmetic damage.

We are weathering the storms life is throwing at us. We wanted to thank you for your prayers.

Love,
Jim

Oklahoma Howdy to Coyote,

Brother Jim, I'm sorry to hear about the illness in your family. I will definitely be praying for you. I believe strongly in the power of prayer, and I know that God wants to hear our prayers. I feel especially blessed that the sweet Christians here have prayed for me, and those prayers were answered.

I'm very happy to hear about progress with your doctor and good news about the medication working. Many here will continue to pray for you and your family, including me. I sincerely believe that prayer is the strongest medicine.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Figured an update was needed so as not to leave you all wondering.

I have seen the two specialists, one told me it was all in my head, and the other one is convinced its all in my head and thats the problem lol. I have been sceduled (sp?) for a variety of tests so I await to take them one is an allergy test and the other is an ENG (something to do with my inner ear fluid flow).

The medicine I was put on for the joint pain worked... but it has been pulled from the market (VIOXX). So the pain has come back into the picture, still waiting to get a replacement therepy. Never ending fight with this medical buisness.

My wife has recovered except for a few over doing it occasions. She is in good spirits and has returned to singing in the church choir.

The wreck she had while back has been sorta resolved. The insurance company totaled the truck, but we bought the salvage since I can fix it for under $2000. The lien company on the other hand is completely confused as to what to do about it. I sent them the insurance check and they don't know what to do with the money. So I've been argueing with them since this all began.

Sincereheart... I have read Job twice and it has helped me alot. Thank you for the help.

The wife and I appreciate all the prayer and passing thoughts that have been given for us. We have given many prayers for ya'll in return.

Thank you,

Jim

Coyote,

Brother Jim, I'm very happy to hear about your wife getting better. Ref. the Vioxx, I might be in the same boat fairly soon with Celebrex. My doctor told me how they test those medicines, and I was amazed how easy it is to get a medication banned. Celebrex is in the same drug family, and it works wonders for me, but it may be banned also. I don't think that the older drugs are very good at all, but you and I might not have a choice. An old one that will not be banned is called Propoxy-N/Apap. I would say that it's better than over the counter Motrin but only about half as good as Vioxx or Celebrex.

Grin  We can always go to Atwood's and get some good old fashioned horse liniment. It's also great for personal security because nobody can stand coming around you. Another added bonus is that it will clear your sinus, open your ears, and who knows what else at a very low price.   Grin

Brother, I'll keep praying for you.

Love In Christ,
Tom

BEP I got put on VIOXX because to the doctor 4800mg of motrin a day was exessive... I agree with him though it may have been a little to much.

I wonder if my Dad still has great Granny's liniment recipie that stuff workes great and smells like peppermint.

I know my Granny used to doctor me up with all kinds of things and they seemed to work just fine, but I don't miss the castor or cod liver oil. I think all doctors nowdays need the oldfasioned doctoring my granny gave out, I think they would be alot more understanding. As well as better practiconers.

Brother Jim,

Grin  PLEASE!!!! - I have vivid memories of castor oil and cod liver oil. My mother still takes them on a regular basis. They must work since she is healthier than I am.   Cheesy

I think that the generic name for the medicine I used to take is Propoxy, and I took only 650 mg. per day. It is better than Motrin, but not nearly as good as Vioxx or Celebrex. You also have to watch the over-the-counter stuff pretty closely. Some of it can eat your stomach up over a period of time and give you ulcers.

If you get the recipe for granny's liniment, please let me know. I'd love to try it, especially since it smells good.

Tom
