THE FOUNDATION

“We should be unfaithful to ourselves if we should ever lose sight of the danger to our liberties if anything partial or extraneous should infect the purity of our free, fair, virtuous, and independent elections.” —John Adams (1797)

ALEXANDER’S ANALYSIS

Executive Summary: Mueller v Trump9
Mark Alexander

If you want to give Democrat Party10 principals and their Leftmedia promoters11 a little time to decide how to frame news about their primary focus for the last two years, dump it late Friday afternoon, and then hope the opening rounds of March Madness will provide a little more cover.

That was the case with news that Robert Mueller’s report on the Trump/Russia collusion delusion had finally dropped.

After 675 days of investigation, Phase One of the collusion12 between Hillary Clinton13, former FBI Director James Comey and his cronies14, and Robert Mueller, however unwitting Mueller’s involvement was to take down Donald Trump15, has now concluded. But the roots of the special counsel investigation16 of Trump actually began when he was a candidate — and he and his administration have been under assault every day since.

As you recall, this charade was prompted by a fake dossier17 funded by Hillary Clinton’s13 campaign and the Democrat National Committee. Clinton and Comey, whose “higher loyalty18” was, first and foremost, to Clinton, set that fabrication into motion16, and it was carried out by a handful of high-ranking officials within the FBI and Department of Justice in what was, in effect, a coup d'etat strategy19.

Mueller’s mandate immediately turned into an unlimited investigation into all manner of ostensible wrongdoing regarding Trump and his campaign15.

Sunday, Attorney General William Barr released his “Principal Conclusions20” on the Mueller investigation for Congress: “The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

Indeed, Mueller was the second-longest serving FBI director in history and, given his unfettered investigative powers and resources over the last two years, if he did not find collusion, there was none. Those of us who are grounded in reality, not partisan agendas, already knew that.

The Mueller report also doused 10 anonymously sourced Trump-Russia bombshells21 and six unfounded media collusion claims22 about key Trump associates, including Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, and Michael Cohen.

But the first phase of the “collusion” distraction has served its purpose — to keep Trump on the ropes for the last two years.

Rep. Mark Meadows, Freedom Caucus chairman, concludes, “The Democrats’ Russian collusion narrative is fading for one reason: because there was no collusion. It was a political conspiracy theory. To say the case ‘fell apart’ would be kind — because there never was a case from the beginning.”

But Sen. Ted Cruz warned: “I do think it’s striking that at least the early indications are there are no further indictments, which means … that not a single person was indicted for colluding with the Russians to influence the 2016 election. [But] if anyone thinks that the Mueller report being concluded is the end of the Democrats’ attempt to take down President Trump, they haven’t been paying attention the last two years. … They fully intend to impeach the president and they don’t care about the basis.”

Indeed, the Democrats are now launching Phase Two of the their endless strategy to obstruct the Trump administration’s agenda23 — the House impeachment subterfuge24.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declared, “Attorney General Barr’s letter raises as many questions as it answers. The fact that Special Counsel Mueller’s report does not exonerate the president on a charge as serious as obstruction of justice demonstrates how urgent it is that the full report and underlying documentation be made public without any further delay. … The American people have a right to know.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) insisted, “There must be full transparency in what special counsel Mueller uncovered to not exonerate the president from wrongdoing. DOJ owes the public more than just a brief synopsis and decision not to go any further in their work.” Nadler will call Barr to testify: “We must hear from AG Barr about his decision making and see all the underlying evidence for the American people to know all the facts.”

The leading 2020 Demo presidential candidates parroted the Pelosi/Schumer/Nadler response25.

Of course, the call for releasing the full report has nothing to do with ensuring “the American people know all the facts,” and everything to do with perpetuating the only thing Democrats have to offer ahead of the 2020 presidential campaign — “Hate Trump26.” And holding the administration’s MAGA agenda27 hostage may well produce the economic recession Democrats want28 in order to claim Trump’s agenda has failed.

Trump responded to calls to release the “witch hunt29” report, declaring, “Let people see it. There was no collusion with Russia. There was no obstruction. … This was an illegal takedown that failed, and hopefully, somebody is going to be looking at the other side.”

Regarding Trump’s insistence on “looking at the other side” and Democrat calls for “full disclosure,” former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy responded30: “You want disclosure? Me too. But let’s see all of it. Not just Mueller’s report. Let’s see everything: all of the memoranda relevant to the opening of the investigation, all of the testimony at closed hearings, all of the FISA-warrant applications, all of [Deputy Attorney General Rod] Rosenstein’s scope memo.”

House Intelligence Committee ranking member Devin Nunes backs that full inquiry: “What we really need to see is what was the FBI’s involvement with Fusion GPS. Who were they? Who did they know about? … Fusion GPS was essentially the Hillary Clinton campaign. They were hired by the Clinton campaign, so we need to see all of that and need the FISA fully disclosed.”

The Demo “dog whistle” line in Barr’s summary is this: “While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

Of course, that was not the mandate of the investigation, so stating there is no exoneration of obstruction of justice is an obvious conclusion, but provided an open invitation for Democrats to keep seeking to prove a negative. However, despite that invitation, anyone without a partisan political motive must ask, “If there was no collusion, then how do you make a case for obstructing an investigation into something that did not happen?”

Democrats have repeatedly staked their bets on “collusion,” and they’re doubling down.

Nadler: “We know there was collusion with people in the campaign with Russians. … There was obviously a lot of collusion.” House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA): “There’s clear evidence of an attempt to collude. … There’s plenty of evidence of collusion.” DNC chief Tom Perez: “Over the course of the last year, we have seen a mountain of evidence of collusion between the [Trump] campaign and the Russians.”

In addition to reinvestigating the “Russia collusion” claims, the Democrat investigation will also take in the question of how then-candidate Trump used his own money to settle what constituted extortion payouts — and whether those payments violated campaign-finance law31.

Bottom line: Every American should be concerned that a completely unsubstantiated opposition-research dossier of Donald Trump, funded by Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee, was elevated by high-level FBI officials into an investigation of a candidate they opposed during a presidential campaign, leaked to the Leftmedia by the director of the FBI, and resulted in the appointment of a special counsel. This was a purely partisan setup of a political candidate and then sitting president, scripted and prompted by high-ranking officials in the FBI, CIA, and DoJ.

That should concern every American of any political stripe.

And of equal concern should be the fact that, consequently, that investigation has consumed an enormous amount of time and energy by an administration, devoted, most notably, to creating more jobs and better wages for all Americans. Thus, Democrat Party operatives set about to obstruct the Trump administration’s agenda at enormous expense to those Americans they claim as constituents, and they plan to continue that obstruction.

That unmitigated arrogance and hypocrisy should also be a concern of every American of any political stripe.

TOP NEWS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

“Bernie Sanders was hit with a complaint [last] week, claiming his presidential campaign violated federal election laws by employing non-Americans in advisory positions. A new complaint by the Coolidge Reagan Foundation filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) notes that three members of the Sanders campaign are foreign nationals, which appears to be a violation of federal election laws that prohibit foreign interference.” (Fox New39)
According to Fox News40, “A road rage suspect who investigators say shot and killed a Washington state sheriff’s deputy and wounded a police officer [last] week was in the U.S. illegally.” The man “entered the U.S. at Laredo, Texas, in April 2014 on a temporary agricultural worker visa,” and “ICE had no record of him leaving the United States or extending his visa after it expired.” Meanwhile, Reuters reveals41, “A caravan of some 1,200 migrants from Central America and Cuba began moving towards the U.S. border from southern Mexico this weekend.” Whether it’s expired visas or flagrant unlawful entry, illegal immigration is a multifaceted threat.
Morris Dees isn’t the only noteworthy SPLC official departing42. “The president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Richard Cohen, announced his resignation Friday, the latest in a series of high-profile departures at the anti-hate organization that have come amid allegations of misconduct and workplace discrimination,” according to the Los Angeles Times43. “Cohen told staff that he had asked the center’s board of directors in October to start searching for a new president, citing a need for a transition to a new generation of leadership. But ‘in light of recent events, I’ve asked the board to immediately launch a search for an interim president in order to give the organization the best chance to heal,’ Cohen wrote.”
On Friday, Trump remarked, “It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!” However, CBS News states44, “It is unclear what sanctions Mr. Trump was referring to. … The Treasury Department had just announced new sanctions on two China-based shipping companies it says have aided North Korea in evading existing U.N. sanctions. A National Security Council official said later Friday that the sanctions Mr. Trump is pulling back are not the ones that were just imposed.”
Cracking down: “The Trump administration intensified pressure against socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro’s illegitimate regime with the addition of new sanctions on March 22 — this time targeting Venezuela’s National Development Bank, Bandes. It comes just a day after the administration warned there would be consequences for their arrest of a top aide of Juan Guaidó, the internationally recognized interim president. … On the same day, the Trump administration warned the regime over the detention of Americans that include six executives from Houston-based oil company Citgo Petroleum. The Americans have been jailed in Venezuela since 2017.” (The Epoch Times45)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has divulged troubling new data regarding fentanyl. The period from 2011 to 2016 saw a 1,000% upswing in deaths stemming from fentanyl. As ABC News notes46, “The number of fatalities … was relatively stable in 2011 and 2012, with roughly 1,600 deaths each of those years. The number began to increase in 2013, reaching just over 1,900 deaths. Then the death rate doubled each year, skyrocketing to 18,335 overdoses in 2016.” Consequently, fentanyl represents the U.S.‘s deadliest drug.
Nihilism is taking over American culture, the General Social Survey suggests. According to Religion News Service, “Americans claiming 'no religion’ — sometimes referred to as ‘nones’ because of how they answer the question ‘what is your religious tradition?’ — now represent about 23.1 percent of the population, up from 21.6 percent in 2016. People claiming evangelicalism, by contrast, now represent 22.5 percent of Americans, a slight dip from 23.9 percent in 2016.” As The Resurgent’s Jess Fields notes47, “Religious ‘nones’ are a big story precisely because most of them are younger, and this is sure to influence American culture in the decades to come. America is simply becoming less and less religious.”

OPINION IN BRIEF

Gary Bauer: “One of the left’s oft-repeated mantras is ‘Diversity is our strength.’ But diversity by itself has never historically been a strength unless those diverse people were united around something — usually a set of common values. Our Founding Fathers recognized this when they adopted the phrase ‘E Pluribus Unum’ — Out of many, one. What is the ‘one’? It’s the idea of being American, believing in freedom and the common values of Judeo-Christian civilization. Unfortunately, the cult of multiculturalism and identity politics has reversed this concept. We no longer celebrate what unites us. Not even our national anthem and our flag. The concept of the ‘melting pot’ — assimilation or Americanization — has been replaced with the ‘salad bowl,’ where the individual diverse elements are celebrated. Many progressives today are operating under the idea that we should celebrate our own identity, whatever it happens to be. It’s causing tremendous conflict throughout society, even in the U.S. military.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “A friend of mine was asked to a costume ball a short time ago. He slapped some egg on his face and went as a liberal economist.” —Ronald Reagan

For the record: “The Special Counsel did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government [to interfere in the election], despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.” —letter from Attorney General Bob Barr to Congress

For the record II: “The desperate ‘this is Barr, not Mueller!’ cries are amusing. Remember this: Mueller publicly & quickly corrected a piece of a Buzzfeed story that he thought was unfair/inaccurate. We’d sure as hell know if he thought Barr was distorting the central pillars of his conclusions.” —Guy Benson

Non Compos Mentis: “You have a president who, in my opinion, beyond a shadow of a doubt, sought to, however ham-handedly, collude with the Russian government or foreign power to undermine and influence our elections.” —Beto O'Rourke after the Mueller probe dropped with no such finding

Friendly fire: “Turning on Mueller and impugning his integrity and competence is the inevitable outcome — it’s the only play the Trump/Russia devotees have.” —lefty journalist Glenn Greenwald

Friendly fire II: “I wrote a letter in August [2016] to … [James] Comey and said Russia is messing with our elections and you need to do something about that. And by October he had done nothing. We now know he should have done something. … They’ve done it in the past. They are doing it as we speak in European countries. And they’re going to do it again in America.” —Harry Reid

And last… “Hands up, don’t shoot. Trump’s a Russian spy. Kavanaugh ran a secret gang rape cartel. Covington kids assaulted a vet. Never forget that these lies — and yes, they were outright lies — were deliberately peddled by all the same people for all the same reasons.” —Sean Davis
