THE FOUNDATION
“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual — or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.” —Samuel Adams (1781)

IN BRIEF Election Referendum Narrative: It’s All About One Guy1
Thomas Gallatin
Election Day has finally arrived, and Democrats will soon find out if their “make everything about resisting Donald Trump” gamble will pay off. In truth, Democrats had little else to campaign on besides fear, anger, hatred, and division2, as a majority of Americans want nothing to do with the party’s extreme leftist policies.
The economy is roaring thanks to the extraordinary record3 of Trump and Republicans. Unemployment numbers have hit record lows, wages are up, and consumer confidence is high as Americans are feeling increasingly optimistic about the future. Trump has been equally impressive on the international front, from his ongoing work to bring about an end to the North Korean nuclear nemesis to reworking trade deals (the most significant being NAFTA) and his bold willingness to confront China’s unfair trade practices. He has also proven successful in reversing Barack Obama’s dismal foreign-policy deals, specifically by pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement on climate and the Iran nuclear deal. These are all huge wins for the country, which have reestablished the U.S. as a world leader and further protected the nation’s sovereignty.
For his part, Trump has fully embraced the mainstream media’s narrative that the midterms are a referendum on his presidency. Historically, midterm elections have been more about local politics, but that is becoming less true with each cycle. Thus far, early voting has hit record numbers, indicating a higher-than-normal voter turnout. Voter enthusiasm across both parties is high.
Erick Erickson sums it up4: “If the GOP does well today, it will be because Americans are looking around and realizing Donald Trump isn’t as bad as they thought. If the GOP does badly today, it will be because Americans, including some of those who voted for him, have decided someone needs to restrain the President. Up and down the ballot the issue of Trump will impact voters.”
Will Americans awake tomorrow morning to a blue wave, a red wall, or a mix of both? We’ll soon find out, but there is one thing all Americans should be happy to see — no more campaign commercials.

Vote … or Don’t5
Nate Jackson
America’s Founders gave us, in the words of Benjamin Franklin, “a republic … if [we] can keep it.” The way we keep that republic is to be informed about who and what we’re voting for. As John Adams wrote, “Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people.” And as Samuel Adams put it, a citizen’s vote is “one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”
The trouble is, one of the nation’s two major political parties depends upon the appalling civic ignorance6 of the electorate. Democrat voter IQ too often hinges on what we call “dezinformatsiya” and “pollaganda” from the Leftmedia. And some portion of the population receives its “news” primarily from late-night comedy shows.
We all get a good laugh when we see “man on the street” interviews in which people can’t name the vice president or the speaker of the House or how many justices there are on the Supreme Court … until we realize some of those people vote. Then it’s not so funny.
In 1789, only white, land-owning men could vote in most states. That has — rightly — been expanded to include minorities and women, but the Founders were absolutely correct in one key respect: Voters should have “skin in the game.” Today, elections are often decided by those who don’t pay taxes and/or who are net beneficiaries of unearned income redistribution. Such voters simply vote for the politician who promises them the most lavish benefits. Conversely, these voters are often motivated by fear that the other guy will “take away” their health care, food stamps, etc. A campaign staffer for Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum recently said on an undercover video, “You have to whip them up — the poor, the middle income. You have to whip them up into a frenzy in order for them to vote.” Political operatives will tell people anything to get them to vote.
Again, our Founders knew that this constitutional republic could not be maintained unless citizens possess knowledge and discernment adequate for the task. Unfortunately, thanks to the media and the education complex, many citizens are woefully short on both.

FEATURED ANALYSIS The Rich, White Roots of Democrat Rage30
Lewis Morris
The Democrat Party has pursued a national strategy to make the midterms all about Donald Trump. (To be fair, Trump has happily obliged.) Democrats have identified Republican districts they believe they can flip and linked those GOP incumbents (or candidates for open seats) to the president in hopes of inspiring a strong anti-Trump turnout. Top Dem strategists know they can’t run against a booming economy31, so they are hoping they can get around that by stirring anger against the president.
Such is the state of political affairs today, and we’ll know if this strategy pays off when the polls close tonight. But it’s worth looking into how the Democrats got to this place where all they have to offer is threats of impeachment, cries of racism, and the promise of endless investigations into who-knows-what that will bog down our government and squelch our economic growth.
The Democrats, in short, have an anger-management problem2, and it is driven by rich white people.
For several years now rich progressive whites have solidified their power in the Democrat Party in deep-blue areas like New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago, forcing the party further to the ideological left. Driven by so-called white guilt and pet issues like the environment, these wealthy white leftists are the reasons why we are seeing an upsurge in the popularity of socialism.
