THE FOUNDATION

“That form of government which is best contrived to secure an impartial and exact execution of the law, is the best of republics.” —John Adams (1776)

TOP RIGHT HOOKS

‘Deporter in Chief’ Not Doing Much Deporting1

Illegal immigration activists love to try to portray Barack Obama as the “deporter in chief,” because they want him to grant amnesty to even more illegals than he already has. But is he actually doing much to deport illegals? Nope. According to government data, Obama’s latest program to work with state and local law enforcement on deportation has resulted in — drumroll please — a decrease in detainer requests. That means Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) is not asking as often for state and local jails to hold illegals so ICE can take them into custody for deportation. In FY2015, there were 95,085 retainer requests, but that was 41% lower than FY2014, when there were 159,210 requests. If that decline meant that there were fewer illegals to deport, that would be one thing. But there are reports of a surge in illegal crossings2 this summer, no doubt as word spreads of Obama’s amnesty and Hillary Clinton’s significant polling lead in the presidential race.

Speaking of which, immigration is one of the principal reasons for the rise of Donald Trump. So let’s check in with his plan for a “deportation force” to remove the estimated 11 million illegals from the country. Does he still plan such a force? “To be determined,” answered his new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway. Sen. Jeff Sessions, a key Trump surrogate, also said Trump “did not make a firm commitment” recently on the subject. Mike Pence was left with his usual role of clarifying, and he insisted, “I don’t think the message is changing at all.” Perhaps we’ll find out from Trump himself when the candidate makes his immigration speech on Thursday. In any case, illegal immigration continues to be a topic many voters are watching carefully.

EPA: The Ethanol Protection Agency3

Maybe the initials “EPA” should stand for the Ethanol Protection Agency, as environmental protection seems just too costly and time consuming for the agency. The EPA recently admitted that it has not been in compliance with the 2007 law that requires the agency to study the environmental impact of the ethanol mandate and report its findings to Congress every three years. So far, envirofascist bureaucrats have only met the law’s requirements once in 2011. The EPA’s excuse is that it just doesn’t have enough funding or time and therefore has simply ignored the law.

According to the EPA’s inspector general, because the agency hasn’t been conducting the impact study, it hasn’t been able “to identify, consider, mitigate and make policymakers aware of any adverse impacts of renewable fuels.” The EPA now says it won’t have a fully completed study until at least 2024. Well, that’s good news if you’re a corn farmer, but not such good news for the environment or even other corn-dependent industries, as price of corn has increased.

Several recent independent environmental studies conclude that ethanol biofuels have had an overall negative effect on the environment4 from an increase of smog in cities to the amount of land, water and energy needed to produce ethanol when compared to that of gasoline. Combined with worse mileage and damage to small engines, ethanol has had the exact opposite effect of what it was touted to accomplish when it was initially mandated back in 2005. Yet there is no push by either Congress or the Obama administration to repeal or even question the ethanol mandate. And the agency tasked with protecting the environment seems too busy figuring out how to clean up its own environmental messes5 to care. Cronyism at its best.

No Need for Clinton Foundation if Hillary Wins?6

In an announcement that should come as a shock to no-one, the Clinton Foundation declared that if Hillary were to be elected president, then she, Bill and Chelsea would no longer work with the family’s foundation, and that they would also no longer accept corporate or foreign donations. Arguably, the Clinton Foundation’s primary purpose was as a means of funding and promoting Hillary’s run for the White House — a bridge between two Clinton presidencies. Obviously, if she were to win, the only remaining use for the foundation would be in seeking continued financial gain. Why not disband the foundation altogether? Simply put, the Clintons still have a network of close friends who need jobs. Call it a personal stimulus.

But the idea that the Clinton Foundation would have no more connection to or influence from Hillary is laughable. Back in 2009, when Hillary became secretary of state, she stated, “For the duration of my appointment as Secretary if I am confirmed, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving specific parties in which The William J. Clinton Foundation (or the Clinton Global Initiative) is a party or represents a party.” Then the recent release of emails from the hacking of the Clinton Foundation expose the fact7 that Hillary’s advisers from both the State Department and the foundation colluded. Now with news that the FBI may be looking into the foundation during Hillary’s tenure as secretary of state and with Clinton leading in the national polls, it’s a convenient time for the foundation to proclaim it’s further distancing itself from her.

Once again, the Leftmedia will simply commend the announcement and move on as if there is nothing of consequence or potential corruption. No need to investigate further.

FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS
Obama’s Media Protectors16

By Arnold Ahlert

“It is reported that black hurricane victims in New Orleans have begun eating corpses to survive. Four days after the storm, thousands of blacks in New Orleans are dying like dogs. No one has come to help them.” —Randall Robinson, “reporting” on the aftermath17 of Hurricane Katrina, 2005.

Robinson, who was forced to concede his assertion was based on “unsubstantiated” claims, was one of many Leftmedia hacks more than willing to shape the narrative that George W. Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina’s destruction of New Orleans was the epitome of presidential indifference engendered by racism. “George Bush doesn’t care about black people!” stated rapper Kanye West. Congressman Charles Rangel insisted Bush’s response “shattered the myth of white supremacy once and for all,” while Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) blamed the supposedly intentional incompetence on black voter suppression in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

And a certain former senator from Illinois spoke of the “unconscionable ineptitude” of the government’s response.

Apparently the media response to some natural disasters is “more equal” than others. Louisiana has once again endured a powerful storm in which at least 13 people have drowned, 11,000 people are in shelters, 30,000 have been rescued and 52,000 homes have been damaged. And yes, Randall, caskets from at least five cemeteries have been seen floating18 in the floodwaters.

So where is our current mourner-in-chief? “Obama has still not returned from his vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, and the White House said Thursday Obama would spend the day golfing. While a White House spokeswoman said the president also spoke with FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate to get an update after Fugate’s visit to the area, there are currently no confirmed plans for Obama to end his vacation early,” Fox News reported19 Friday.

No doubt Fugate is doing precisely the same “heckuva job” for which Bush and his FEMA director Michael D. Brown were thoroughly excoriated.

But it’s not as if Obama has been completely dedicated to his vacation, despite playing his eighth round of golf in 12 days at tony places like the Vineyard Golf Club, the nation’s first “organic” golf course that commands an initiation fee of $350,000. As an editorial20 in the Advocate noted, “if the president can interrupt his vacation for a swanky fundraiser for fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton, as he did on Monday, then surely he can make time to show up for a catastrophe that’s displaced thousands.”

No, he can’t. “The president can’t be everywhere,” rationalized Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson last Friday. When pressed why Obama couldn’t give up golfing while people were dying, Johnson doubled down, insisting the president is “very much on top of the situation.”

Fox News reported, “So far, there have been no mainstream media outlets criticizing Obama’s apparent lack of response, nor have there been any celebrities claiming Obama doesn’t care about the people on the ground.”

And there won’t be. Nor will the actual chain of events21 that occurred during Katrina ever be made widely available to a public fed a Leftmedia-revised history that lays the majority of blame for the Katrina disaster on a Republican administration, while conspicuously ignoring the culpability of Democrat Gov. Kathleen Blanco and Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin. Neither called for a mandatory evacuation of the city, even after National Hurricane Center director Max Mayfield pleaded with them to do so — after an NOAA buoy 240 miles to the south had recorded 68 foot waves before it was destroyed.

Louisiana is not the only disaster for which the president refuses to cancel a tee time. While Milwaukee endured two days of racist rioting — as in black thugs attacking22 innocent white people in cars and on the street — the First Golfer was also playing one of the more than 300 rounds23 of golf he has played since becoming president, after which he attended24 a late night social event. Forget showing up. He didn’t even have anything to say about the 14 people arrested, the six businesses lit on fire, the torched squad cars or the seven deputies who were wounded by rock-throwing “protesters.”

And once again, with CNN leading the way, the media were up to the task of revising the story. Following the shooting of a gun-toting Sylville Smith by a black police officer wearing a camera that corroborated the officer’s version of the event — and simultaneously eviscerated the racist narrative that engendered the rioting — CNN utterly mischaracterized a message by Smith’s sister, Sherelle Smith. “Burnin down s— ain’t going to help nothin! Y'all burnin' down s— we need in our community,” Smith raged. “Take that s— to the suburbs. Burn that s— down! We need our s—! We need our weaves. I don’t wear it. But we need it. Don’t bring the violence here and the ignorance here.”

What CNN initially showed its audience? “Don’t bring the violence here and the ignorance here.” And on both its website and its Monday CNN Newsroom broadcast, the network framed25 Smith’s statement as “calling for peace.”

When they were outed, it got worse26. “An earlier version of this story mischaracterized what the victim’s sister was trying to convey,” the network explained. “She was calling for peace in her community, urging the protesters to go elsewhere.” That is, to riot and loot white neighborhoods in the suburbs.

Mischaracterization? Editing video, and making choices about what to disseminate — and what not to disseminate — does not happen by itself. And the efforts by media source WJLA to even suggest27 the possibility that media “ethics experts” theorize the editing “might have been done due to time limitations or it could have been entirely unintentional” is as believable as Washington Post columnist/Obama apologist Chris Cillizza laughably insisting28 Obama won’t visit Louisiana because he detests “theatrical politics.”

Like Greek columns29 at a campaign event, Chris? Obama will visit Louisiana on Tuesday — after his vacation.

Unlike Obama, or Clinton — who was also in Martha’s Vineyard fundraising30 this past weekend — Donald Trump showed up in Louisiana Friday to console the flood victims when it mattered. And while he remains a flawed presidential candidate, people might consider that a Clinton victory would not only keep the despicable ruling class status quo in Washington, DC intact, it would further embolden a Leftmedia that, as CNN’s Chris Cuomo admitted, “couldn’t help her any more than we have.”

A Bad Lip Reading of the DNC32 — Somehow, this nonsense makes more sense than what they really said.
Bathroom Rules and Renovations33 — Another Obama transgender decree. And Target kind of gets the message.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Burt Prelutsky: “To this day, the committee that decides which city will get to host the [Olympic] Games is one of the most corrupt groups of individuals to be found anywhere. In fact, if corruption was an Olympic event, the committee would give a good accounting of itself even if it meant competing with the Mafia, Iran, the NCAA and the Democratic Party. It’s not even a secret that the real competition to host is determined by the size of the bribes offered to the members of the Olympic committee. The mystery, though, is why anyone would want to host the Games. After all, one city after another has taken a financial shellacking after building all the necessary venues that become obsolete the second the Games end. … Inasmuch as most of the news coming out of Rio involves the sewage that includes human waste and even human body parts floating in the ocean, the terrible accommodations, the rampant thievery and the Zika virus, you might have assumed that Rio had wound up hosting the Olympics by picking the shortest straw, not by paying the biggest bribes.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “Any time you and I question the schemes of the do-gooders, we’re denounced as being opposed to their humanitarian goals. It seems impossible to legitimately debate their solutions with the assumption that all of us share the desire to help the less fortunate. They tell us we’re always ‘against,’ never ‘for’ anything.”

You didn’t build that! “It’s time for the wealthiest Americans, whoever you are, as well as corporations and Wall Street to pay your fair share in taxes. You have been successful in this country because of everything this country represents.” —Hillary Clinton

Upright: “America must reject the bigotry of Hillary Clinton, who sees communities of color only as votes, not as human beings worthy of a better future. Hillary Clinton would rather provide a job to a refugee from overseas than to give that job to unemployed African-American youth in cities like Detroit who have become refugees in their own country.” —Donald Trump

For the record: “The truth is she was using [her personal email] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did [during my term as secretary of state]. Her people have been trying to pin it on me.” —Colin Powell on Hillary Clinton blaming him for her private email system

Doh! “Trump wants GOP to court black voters — then slams voting rights for felons.” —CNN headline

And last… “Crass stereotyping has hurt young men, especially some young teens, but the answer is to confront the crass, not to detonate gender norms. Physical weakness is not a virtue. Voluntary weakness is a vice. And, yes, a man has an obligation to be strong.” —David French
