TOP RIGHT HOOKS

Evil Acts at Planned Parenthood1

An Iraq War veteran, a woman, and a police officer were murdered Friday by a psychopath2. Each victim leaves behind two children. Yet because those murders took place not in the streets of Chicago but a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, the Left immediately began attacking pro-lifers and pushing its anti-gun message. Even Barack Obama weighed in, though he ignores most of the murders that take place on Democrat poverty plantations3. The deranged killer reportedly said something about “no more baby parts,” a seeming reference to the string of videos4 revealing Planned Parenthood’s baby-parts trafficking. The nation’s largest abortion mill and its Leftmedia sycophants call these videos “discredited,” but that’s wishful thinking. None of the victims was a Planned Parenthood worker, and, in fact, the officer was a Christian and an outspoken pro-life advocate who died defending abortionists.

Instead of blaming the evil actions of a sick individual, Planned Parenthood blamed the “hateful rhetoric” of conservatives “that reportedly fed this shooter’s rage.” Yet that “hateful rhetoric” is merely describing what Planned Parenthood is doing — killing babies and selling their organs in apparent violation of federal law, all while reaping $500 million a year from taxpayers.

Meanwhile, the same leftists so eager to smear all conservatives with the terrible actions of one man refuse to acknowledge the radical Islamic rationale for terrorism worldwide. They also weren’t exactly quick to take blame for the man who opened fire at the headquarters of the Family Research Council after the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center accused FRC of being a “hate group.”

According to5 the National Abortion Federation, 11 people have now died in “antiabortion violence” since 1977. Since 1973’s Roe v. Wade decision, nearly 58 million children have lost their lives.

There’s no defending what this man did in Colorado. If he was truly upset about fetal-organ harvesting, the answer isn’t violence. You don’t defend the sanctity of life by taking it away. And every truly pro-life person will say the same thing, condemning murder no matter the age of the victim.

Paris, Reeling From Terrorism, Blames Global Warming6

The UN’s much-anticipated COP21 — a 12-day climate summit that promises to reduce chronic health issues, quash terrorist groups, usher in social justice and all-around save the planet — gets underway today in Paris. Did we mention it’s the key to stopping the raucous bloodshed from groups like the Islamic State? “I will be joining President Hollande and other world leaders in Paris for the Global Climate Conference,” Barack Obama proclaimed last week from the White House before burning through an ungodly amount of fossil fuels on his way to France. “What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children.” Actually, they couldn’t care less, because it’s blood and dominion they’re after, not a stable climate that’s never existed. It’s incredible the things Democrats purport will be solved by the summit. They’d say the snowstorm blanketing the Midwest this week is actually CO2 falling from the sky if it makes reaching an agreement more attainable.

But we digress. What, exactly, will the conference accomplish, assuming a deal is even reached? Even regulatory advocates aren’t entirely sure. The Wall Street Journal reports, “The single most important benchmark underpinning this week’s talks in Paris on climate change — two degrees Celsius — has guided climate-treaty discussions for decades, but scientists are at odds on the relevance of that target. … Policy makers tend to assume the two-degree target expresses a solid scientific view, but it doesn’t.” In fact, the IPCC’s own studies say nothing about this supposed benchmark. And here we thought the science was settled! “Still,” adds the Journal, “many scientists back the goal because they see it as giving policy makers a clear-cut target to shoot at in the fight against global warming.” Translation: Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Delegates have a lot going for them — perhaps not-so-coincidentally. Last year was (wrongly7) declared the warmest on record, and a powerful El Nińo virtually guarantees this year will be even hotter (based on NOAA’s methodology; again, satellite data suggests otherwise). You could easily argue that things line up a little too well. As we reported8 earlier this year, the government is fudging global temperature data to fit the narrative, which London Telegraph writer Christopher Booker rightly says “is the biggest science scandal ever.” And as Investor’s Business Daily editorializes, “No one knows, nor will ever know, if man-made climate change even exists outside of imaginative thinking and flawed computer models. So no one can ever know if it’s defeated or not.” What a powerful message it would send to jihadis if world leaders would use all that energy in Paris to annihilate the real enemy — radical Islamic terrorism.

Deal or No Deal? Iran Never Signed It9

Remember how Barack Obama’s brilliant nuclear deal with Iran was supposed to protect the world from the radical mullahs obtaining the bomb? Well, it’s always been the sum of all lies10, but the most recent revelation is a doozy: Iran never even signed the deal and it’s not legally binding. That isn’t just the maniacal ranting of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, either, but the admission of Obama’s own State Department. Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS) wondered in a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry whether Congress had received the final version of the deal, given it had not been signed. Kerry’s underling, Julia Frifield, the State Department assistant secretary for legislative affairs, replied, “The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not a treaty or an executive agreement, and is not a signed document.”

So not only is it not a treaty, but it’s not even an executive agreement or a signed document. It’s nothing more than a handshake between liars. But don’t worry, says Frifield: “The success of the JCPOA will depend not on whether it is legally binding or signed, but rather on the extensive verification measures we have put in place, as well as Iran’s understanding that we have the capacity to re-impose — and ramp up — our sanctions if Iran does not meet its commitments.” There is no chance Obama re-imposes $100+ billion in lifted sanctions, and the same goes for Europe. Obama did nothing to secure U.S. national security interests. Worse, he undermined them in exchange for an unsigned piece of paper and self-congratulatory high fives all around the State Department. The good news is a Republican president can simply toss Obama’s piece of paper where it belongs — in the garbage.

FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS
Chicago Murder in Black and White13

By Robin Smith

“Black Friday” in Chicago was marked by protest in the heart of the retail district — the Magnificent Mile of North Michigan Avenue — over the fatal shooting of a black teenager by a Chicago Police Department patrolman. The chum in the waters of publicity drew the “Reverend” Jesse Jackson, the Chicago Teachers Union president and the district’s own elected Democrat, Rep. Bobby Rush. But that exposed the truth: Black lives matter only when the blame falls on law enforcement or another “enemy” of the Left’s “community.”

Nothing in The Patriot Post will come close to condone or justify excessive force or blatant racism in any law enforcement effort — or any other organization. However, the level of absurdity that this protest achieves in ignoring a malignant problem won’t pass without notice.

The protests stem from the arrest of Officer Jason Van Dyke last Tuesday. He was charged with first-degree murder for the Oct. 20, 2014, shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, a black male armed with a knife and with a toxicology report showing he was high on PCP. McDonald had been tracked for “nearly a half-mile, from a trucking yard where he had been breaking into vehicles through a Burger King parking lot and onto busy Pulaski Road,” according to the Chicago Tribune. Officer Van Dyke apparently emptied his 16-round pistol upon exiting his squad car in the multi-car pursuit of the now-deceased.

The Chicago Police Department dash-cam videos will be critical in this case.

But where is Officer Jason Van Dyke? He’s in jail awaiting justice. So why the riots and protests? Obvious questions have to be asked of Jackson, Rush, the Chicago Teachers Union and the angry protesters regarding this one death.

Are you angry only when a white cop shoots a black young man?
Of the 321 blacks listed as homicide victims in Chicago through Nov. 21, how many protests were held in their honor?
When do you admit the failure of decades of institutional leftism on America’s urban poverty plantations3?

Equally, questions must be asked of the “leader” of the Democrat-run Windy City, Barack Obama’s best pal Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who has been openly challenged for his administration’s changes in recording crime statistics and classifying homicides.

From January to December 2014, there were 2,587 shooting victims in Chicago. From January through Nov. 29, 2015, there have been 2,724 shooting victims. Yet the city’s “crime index” shows a downward trend, based on Emanuel’s formulas. Are you, Mr. Mayor, cooking the books?
Investigative reporting and audits have found underreporting of crime and a change in the classification of homicides under Emanuel’s hand-picked CPD Chief Garry McCarthy, yet the murder rate per 100,000 residents of Chicago is still nearly four times the national average. Mayor Emanuel et al, when will you confess to your policy failures in dealing with violent crime?

Emanuel’s administration also fought to have the video of McDonald’s death kept from the public — and succeeded for 13 months. Why? It might have cost the mayor his re-election last year.

The high-profile protests that choked away Christmas shoppers on Black Friday served their purpose: Make a statement to fit a narrative that there is rampant police brutality and blatant violence against black citizens. But the inconvenient truth is laid bare by The Wall Street Journal’s Jason Riley, who is black. Earlier this year, in regard to Baltimore’s unrest, Riley said:

“Blacks are about 13 percent of the population, yet commit half of all murders in this country. Blacks are arrested at 2-3 times their numbers in the population for all manner of violent crime, all manner of property crime. If we want to reduce tensions between [blacks and] law enforcement in these communities, we have to do something about these crime rates. If we want to reduce negative perceptions of young black men in society, we have to do something about behavior that is driving those perceptions. … We love to talk about the black incarceration rate and how outrageously high it is as if it has no connection to the black crime rate. I think you can’t talk about one without talking about the other.”

The citizens of Chicago have an opportunity here. They should awaken and demand answers from their elected leaders for generations of failed policy.

OPINION IN BRIEF

John Goodman: “Here is the bottom line. Many college students today are just as collectivist as Woodrow Wilson was. In a way, they are just as racist. They refuse to allow individuals to be individuals and insist on treating everyone as a member of a group. The rights and privileges people are entitled to depend upon their group. So black students have rights and privileges that white students don’t have. Females have rights and privileges that males don’t have. And so forth. … It apparently took the dust up at Princeton for such left-of-center publications as Vox and Salon and the editorial board of The New York Times to discover Wilson’s racism and denounce it — reflecting, I suppose, the tendency of people on the left to talk only to each other. Condemning racism is the easy step. The much harder task is for these folks to self-reflect and discover how many other of their ideas have been inherited from progressive-era thinking. I suspect that on a whole range of issues, the thinking of the students and faculty at Princeton is much closer to the thinking of Woodrow Wilson than it is to the common sense thinking of ordinary Americans. Woodrow Wilson’s name prominently displayed at Princeton might actually be a helpful reminder of that fact.”

SHORT CUTS

The Gipper: “We did not seek the role of leadership that has been thrust upon us. But whether we like it or not, the events of our time demand America’s participation.”

Upright: “We’re fast approaching Obama’s last year in office. I want to warn you again, in all likelihood, there are going to be things this president does in the next 12 months that you can’t even think of or conceive of now. … It doesn’t matter what the courts say, it doesn’t matter if Obama policies have a stay on them or temporary halt. It’s his last chance to have personal stamps or fingerprints on the transformation of this country. He knows the Republicans have taken impeachment — it’s late for that anyway. There’s not gonna be any effort to stop him.” —Rush Limbaugh

Braying Jackass: “Nearly four centuries after the Mayflower set sail, the world is still full of pilgrims — men and women who want nothing more than the chance for a safer, better future for themselves and their families. What makes America America is that we offer that chance.” —Barack Obama on why we should open the doors wide for Syrian refugees (On the bright side, Obama finally had something positive to say about Christian pilgrims…)

Demo-gogues: “This is not normal. We can’t let it become normal. If we truly care about this — if we’re going to offer up our thoughts and prayers again, for God knows how many times, with a truly clean conscience — then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them. Period. Enough is enough.” —Barack Obama on last week’s shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic

Village Idiots: “It is offensive and outrageous that some [Republican] politicians are now claiming this tragedy has nothing to do with the toxic environment they helped create. One of the lessons of this awful tragedy is that words matter, and hateful rhetoric fuels violence. It’s not enough to denounce the tragedy without also denouncing the poisonous rhetoric that fueled it.” —Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens (Of course, what the Left means by “denouncing the poisonous rhetoric” is embracing it.)

And last… “Obama will only use 39,045 gal of jet fuel to attend the Paris Climate Summit, but he will adjust Air Force 1’s thermostat down to 71°.” —Twitter satirist @weknowwhatsbest
