Anyone enjoy Francine Rivers?  She's one of my favorite authors--and I'm happy that she hasn't run out of things to say yet.

Her book An Echo in the Darkness is the clearest picture of forgiveness I've ever read.

I haven't read anything by her.... But you have piqued my curiosity! What kind of writing does she do?

She writes fiction, with highly scriptural concepts.  The particular book I mentioned is the middle of a series called the Mark of the Lion.  It's set in Rome just after the fall of Jerusalem.  The first book is called A Voice in the Wind (guess whose voice) and begins with, "The city was silently bloating in the hot sun, rotting like the thousands of bodies that lay where they had fallen in street battles."

She writes the most believable and compelling fiction I've ever read.  If you love to get lost in a book, hers will do it for you.  Not all of them, but this series will grip you; especially the first two.

I have now read TWO of her books!  Cheesy
I'm not into Janette Oke books and I was afraid that these would be similiar!  Undecided
They're not! And the two I read were awesome!  Cheesy

ROFL!  Grin
Does that mean if you don't like them, I'm in trouble?  Shocked

And I lied.... Lips Sealed
I've read three.  Tongue
I forgot about one!  Roll Eyes

No one else has read any?  Huh

If you only read one, read "The Atonement Child".... That one is really thought-provoking.
I'm not sure about "Redeeming Love". I liked it cause the main character reminded me so much of my husband!  Kiss
"The Last Sin Eater" is the one I had forgotten about.

I also like Francine Rivers' "Mark of the Lion" series.

The first 2 even have some Biblical/factual basis.

These can even be read while riding in a vehicle without get car-sick.

These have enough detail that I can reread them fairly frequently without remembering everything.

ALSO: if you like drama, murder, mystery books -- try Terri Blackstocks "NewPointe911"
Christian 5 book series (some even have romance mixed into the picture).
These I can also read while riding in a car without getting car-sick.

Well, I'll have to read that one; and then I can smile and think, "Here's sincereheart's husband! Why, I've practically met him by now!"
I enjoy meeting my loved ones' shadows in books.

I know "Redeeming Love" is based on Hosea. It's neat because it helps me re-read a chapter with a new perspective.  Cheesy

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to test that one out!  Undecided I remember "back in the day" when I could read in a moving vehicle.  Roll Eyes

I was given two in a series by her. They were good, easy reads. I haven't seen the one you mentioned. I'll see if the library has it.  Smiley

And I feel better knowing I'm not the only nut who has those kin shadows!   Cool
You, however, made need to be afraid!  Shocked

I've been reading her 'Sons of Encouragement' series. There will be a total of 5 books but right now she only has 3 books available. They are about the men who stand in the backgroud of the great men of God.

Her first book was called 'The Priest' about Aaron, brother of Moses.
Currently I am reading 'The Warrior' about Caleb, friend of Joshua.
Her third book is called 'The Prince' about Jonathan, friend of King David.
I'm looking forward to reading the others when they become available.

They are very good and very thought provoking.

Hello everyone, I am new here. And when I saw this thread about my all-time favorite Christian author, I just had to jump in.

The first book of Francine's that I read was The Last Sin Eater. I enjoyed it very much and knew that I wanted to read more from this author. Then I read The Mark of the Lion  trilogy and was completly hooked! These books really made me fall in love with historical fiction. She does a truly amazing job! Then I read Redeeming Love  and started encouraging everyone I know to read her books. They are sooo good that I've been able to get "not-yet-born-again" friends to read them! That should give you an idea about her writing skills! Anyway...I've read nearly everything she has written. The only ones I haven't read yet is her new series..The Sons of Encouragement.

So, for any of you who haven't read Francine Rivers yet...please...do yourself a huge favor and read her! You'll be so glad you did!
