Prayer Day to Go Ahead on GOD TV

by Staff
May 5, 2010

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla., (christiansunite.com) -- GOD TV founders, Rory & Wendy Alec have joined the call to save the National Day of Prayer (NDP) and will be broadcasting the Washington, D.C. event LIVE on GOD TV this week. The high profile annual event is at risk since April 15, when a US Judge ruled that it was unconstitutional, and the Day is now being challenged in court.

GOD TV will air the 59th Annual Observance of the NDP LIVE on Thursday May 6 at 9am (EST) and replay it in prime time viewing on Sunday May 9 at 10.30am and 6pm. Hosted by NDP Task Force Chairman, Shirley Dobson, the three-hour broadcast will include an address by Evangelist Franklin Graham, the Task Force's Honorary Chairman.

Celebrated on the 1st Thursday in May the NDP was established by an act of Congress in 1952 which encourages Americans to pray for the nation, its people and leaders. This year's theme is 'For such a time as this' based on Nahum 1:7 - "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him."

Viewers of the 2010 National Observance can participate in powerful prayers of intercession for America and all those in authority by various Christian leaders including Focus on the Family founder James Dobson and worship along with Ricky Skaggs. They will also be invited to sign an online petition to save the National Day of Prayer.

"Unfortunately, the heritage of prayer in our nation has come under unrelenting assault," said Shirley Dobson. "The National Day of Prayer dates back to 1775 and it is not for a judge to take away. We the people called for the day of prayer and for 59 years we have practiced our freedom to gather and pray. It is time to say, 'Enough is enough'. We ask the American people to defend the right to pray. We can be silent no more."

GOD TV is committed to rally the Body of Christ to prayer worldwide and often features mass prayer events from across the globe. The Network has been the exclusive broadcast partner of the NDP for three years, airing the National Observance to more than 200 nations. It will also broadcast the Global Day of Prayer LIVE from Jerusalem on May 23.

"GOD TV supports the National Day of Prayer in their mission of communicating the need for personal repentance in prayer and their quest to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America's leaders in government, the military, media, business, education, church and family," said GOD TV co- founder and Director of Television, Wendy Alec. "We also stand with them in their fight to save the National Day of Prayer and encourage all our viewers to watch the broadcast and sign the petition."

The GOD Channel can be viewed worldwide and all across the USA on channel 365 of DIRECTV as well as on select local cable stations in certain cities. Online viewers can watch at www.god.tv/live or at www.god.tv/video where many GOD TV's programs are available for video on demand viewing.
