Emergency Action to Address Chicago Youth Violence

by Staff
October 19, 2009

CHICAGO, (christiansunite.com) -- In light of the mounting violence among teens in Chicago, Pastor Gregory Dickow and Reverend James Meeks join forces to offer a plan of action Tuesday October 20th at Whitney Young High School, on the corner of Jackson and Loomis in Chicago.

This "STOP THE VIOLENCE: Emergency Forum on Youth Violence" will take place from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and broadcast LIVE on Dickow's radio program, Ask the Pastor on AM 1160, WYLL Chicago. It will also be broadcast LIVE on WJYS television.

Following the beating and death of 16-year old Chicago honor-roll student Derrion Albert last month, Pastor Gregory Dickow was moved to action and stated, "The crisis among Chicago's youth has to stop and it starts with empowering the public to do something about it."

In addition to panel member Reverend/State Senator Meeks, of Salem Baptist Church in Chicago, Dickow has called together Chicago and state leaders to join the forum to find an urgent solution to the city's violence that continues to claim young lives. Additional invited guests include: Mayor Richard Daley, Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis, Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman, and the affected students and families.

"We must give this next generation something greater to live for than the temporary high they get from drugs, the power they feel through holding a gun; holding a woman, or holding hundreds or thousands of dollars in their hands," declares Dickow, the senior Pastor of Life Changers International, a mega-church in Hoffman Estates, IL.

An invitation to the live forum is extended to all media and press. Larry Chapel can be contacted for press check-in information. 847-312-8197.

Dickow is founder and pastor of Life Changers International Church in Hoffman Estates and Chicago. He is also host of "Changing Your Life," a television program that airs worldwide on several international television networks, and the "Ask The Pastor" show, the highly rated, LIVE radio program heard five days a week giving callers and listeners practical answers to everyday problems. His book, "The Power to Change Today," is available in bookstores nationwide. For additional information, visit www.changinglives.org.
