The Family in America: Inaugural Issue of New Public Policy Journal Defends the Natural Family
by Staff
October 14, 2009
ROCKFORD, Ill., (christiansunite.com) -- The Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society announced that its new quarterly journal, The Family In America: A Journal of Public Policy has now been released. The new journal is a reconfiguration of the monthly newsletter that was founded in 1987.
This inaugural issue contains articles by Allan C. Carlson, George Steven Swan, Bryce J. Christensen, David G. Schramm, Kay S. Hymowitz, Jennifer Roback Morse, William R. Mattox, Jr., and Janice Shaw Crouse.
Brad Wilcox, Associate Professor at University of Virginia, calls the new journal "the most incisive guide to issues facing the American family today...An invaluable resource for anyone wishing to stay on the cutting edge of research on family trends."
Dr. Allan Carlson, President of the Howard Center and Professor at Hillsdale College, described the new quarterly, "The Family In America is devoted to exploring how the key problems of American society today are due more to the generation-long retreat from marriage and the breakdown of the natural family than to any immediate economic or political crisis."
Carlson continued, "The upgraded journal not only enhances pro-family leaders' capabilities to shape the public debate but also provides readers with the latest research, the best analysis, and the sharpest arguments aimed at defending and restoring the married-parent family as a cornerstone of American society and public policy."
The editorial team includes, Carlson, founding editor and publisher; Robert W. Patterson, editor; and Bryce Christensen, editor-at-large. Patterson and Christensen also write the journal's New Research section, which gleans the latest research from the biological and social sciences that affirm the promise of marriage and the natural family to American society.
The Family In America consists of Stephen Baskerville, Allan R. Crippen II, William A. Donohue, Rod Dreher, William C. Duncan, Patrick F. Fagan, Bruce P. Frohnen, Kay S. Hymowitz, Bill Kauffman, Peter Augustine Lawler, Phillip J. Longman, William R. Mattox, Jr., Paul T. Mero, Mark T. Mitchell, Douglas C. Minson, Jennifer Roback Morse, John D. Mueller, Brian C. Robertson, Lynn D. Wardle, W. Bradford Wilcox, Richard G. Wilkins and Charmaine Crouse Yoest.
