 Undecided

I go to rent "Jesus of Nazareth".  Three video tapes.

Go home, pop them open.  Tapes two and three watched all the way to the end--left unwound.

I get this frequently from secular movies.  I've come to expect it.

But "Jesus of Nazareth"??

A first class, thoughtful, provocative piece of incisive cinema.  You naturally assume that too would be the type of people having just watched it.  After all, it's six hours long.

First, no one hardly ever is renting it in the first place.

So you think, well, those who are renting it, will be just Christians.  And you make the safe bet that certainly, they will have been rewound before returning to the store.

"Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you."

And even the tape itself, is preaching this very appeal.

yeah, probly do, tibby.  Grin

Yes, that's a good point, sincereheart:  They DID watch them, at least 2 and 3, all the way to the end.

And IMO, those are the two most important ones, carrying much of Jesus' teaching(tape 1 is mostly about Mary(and how beautiful she is-- Roll Eyes--& Olivia Hussey IS a hot babe Undecided).

AND, it might take some time for it to sink in.

Yes, that's true.

We can't be just content with serving others and then getting our reward.

We have to serve others only to begin serving others.

I mean, it doesn't stop after you've served the dessert.

You have to be ready to smile then, then take up the dishes, then ask if I can get anything else, then wash up the dishes, then put them all away, then entertain your guests, then be ready to serve any other variations on that general theme that might have continued to develop while you were dawdling around with all that other stuff.

I mean, of course, why should anyone watching a film about Jesus ever think to be nice to others.  I mean, I guess we'll just have to WAIT.

Hey, and what about the ten lepers who were healed and only one turned back to thank Jesus?

I guess I have a hard heart, don't i sincerheart.

Well, look at it this way. We could always use the rewind time to pray for the lost sinners. Perhaps God has a reason for this disturbing providence.  Grin

Boy, that's for sure, Whitehorse.

It's still just got to be the ultimate irony.  The tapes are returned completely unwound.

And they're tapes about Jesus.

Helllllloooooo.    Huh
