To study the eleventh chapter of Judges.

To be more specific verses 31 to 40.

Jephthah offered his daughter as a burnt offering to the Lord?

Well anyhow the whole chapter is interesting.

Hello Blane,

I hope you don't mind me moving this post to a more appropriate area. It was originally posted in the area where we post jokes.

There is much more to Judges 11:31-40 than what first meets the eye. Put this portion of Scripture in context and pay particular attention to Judges 11:37-39. Human sacrifice is not approved by God. His daughter was actually to become a perpetual virgin as an offering to God. The lesson here is to not make rash promises to God.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hebrews 12:1-2  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The moderator is right in moving the Judges 11 question. I don't understand this forum yet. Thanks for the explanation. It makes more sense now.

Hello Blane,

You're doing fine. You'll get comfortable with things pretty quickly, and there are plenty of people here to help. We're all looking forward to having fellowship with you and hope you enjoy Christians Unite.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 11:25-27 NLT  I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud and start bragging. Some of the Jews have hard hearts, but this will last only until the complete number of Gentiles comes to Christ.  26  And so all Israel will be saved. Do you remember what the prophets said about this? "A Deliverer will come from Jerusalem, and he will turn Israel from all ungodliness.  27  And then I will keep my covenant with them and take away their sins."
