Pro-Family Leaders from Over 50 Countries Will Come to Amsterdam for World Congress of Families V

by Staff
July 24, 2009

MEDIA ADVISORY, (christiansunite.com) -- Although World Congress of Families V (August 10-12) is almost three weeks away, pro-family leaders, activists, scholars and officials from over 50 countries on five continents, thus far have registered for Amsterdam 2009.

Larry Jacobs, Managing Director of the World Congress of Families, commented: "We're delighted by the way national representation is shaping up at World Congress of Families V. Delegates will be coming from 11 African states, and from as far away as Venezuela, South Africa, Moldova, Pakistan and Australia."

Jacobs continued: "In terms of nations represented, this will truly be a World Congress of Families. And we expect that other countries will add their voices to a rising chorus in the next few weeks."

The countries which will be represented in Amsterdam include (in alphabetical order): Angola, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Canada, Colombia, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Croatia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malawi, Malta, Mexico, Moldova, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zambia.

Jacobs noted: "The broad national representation at WCF V demonstrates that the issues we'll discuss - including abortion, marriage, declining birth rates, child-care vs. home care, education (including home- schooling), Internet pornography, the exploitation of women and children, threats to the family from radicals and multi-national organizations, and the role of faith in sustaining families - are universal, touching families in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. A challenge to the family somewhere is a challenge to families everywhere."

For more information on World Congress of Families V, go to www.worldcongress.org or www.worldcongress.nl. Registrations for the Amsterdam Congress will be accepted online through August 5th. To schedule an interview with Larry Jacobs or another WCF leader, contact Don Feder at 508-405-1337 or dfeder@rcn.com.

Journalists and representatives of the media can register free for WCF V in Amsterdam with press credentials at www.nl.worldcongress.pl/?wl=en.

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is an international network of pro-family organizations, scholars, leaders and people of goodwill from more than 60 countries that seek to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit and the 'seedbed' of civil society (as found in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 ). The WCF was founded in 1997 by Allan Carlson and is a project of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society in Rockford, Illinois (www.profam.org). To date, there have been four World Congresses of Families - Prague (1997), Geneva (1999), Mexico City (2004) and Warsaw, Poland (2007). A fifth World Congress of Families will be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, August 10-12, 2009 (www.worldcongress.nl and www.worldcongress.org).
