The book of Revelation.
Give it a read – lots of good stuff in there.

Also read the Book of Daniel in the OT, especially Chapter 9(?)

There is a big book full of drawings on these subjects by Rev. Clarence Larkin: THE DISPENDATIONAL TRUTH; also one by Dr. Henry M Morris: REVELATION RECORD, and Dake's Annotated Bible will also help you.

Following are scriptural references to The Seven-Year Tribulation Period and events that take place therein.  I should point out that there are many churches that teach the tribulation will last only 3-1/2 years.  Who is right?  We will all find out in the End, won't we.   Wink

Rapture of the Church. (Luke 21:36; John 14:3; 1 Thess. 4:16-18; 2 Thess. 2:1-9; Rev. 4:1-3)
Opening of the Seals. (Rev. Chapter 6)
Release of the Anti-Christ. (Dan. 9;24-27; Rev. 6:1-2)
World War III. (Ezek. Chapters 38,39; Rev. 6:3-4)
Selection of the 144,000 and the beginning of their ministry. (Ezek. 9:1-6; Rev. 7:1-8; 14:1-5)
Agreement broken with Israel. (Daniel 9:24-27)
Rapture of the Great Multitude. (Rev. 7:9-17)
Upheaval of Nature. (Rev. 8:5)
Antichrist moves against Israel. (Daniel Chapter 9)
Antichrist destroys the Harlot. (Rev. 17:16-18)
Antichrist press conference. (2 Thess. 2:3-4)
Mark of the Beast. (Rev. 13:16-18)
Two Witnesses. (Rev. 11:3-12)
Ministry of Angels. (Rev. 14:6-12)
Plagues. (Rev. Chapters 8,9)
Rapture of the Church. (Rev. 14:1-5)
Marriage of the Lamb (in heaven).(Rev. 19:1-9)
Rapture of the Two Witnesses. (Rev. 19:19-21)
Christ returns. (Zech. Chapter 14; Rev. Chapter 19)
Armageddon. (Rev. 19:19-21)
Antichrist and the False Prophet cast into the Lake of Fire. (Rev. 19:20)
Satan bound. (Rev. 20:1-3)
Christ Reigns. ( Rev. 20:4; Isaiah 9:6)

What is the Biblical basis for the seven year tribulation period?  Where is the seven year tribulation in the Bible?

Hello the_end_is_now, welcome to the forum.

Others have already offered a good start for finding a biblical basis for the 7 years.  To get right at the meat of this, I would suggest Daniel 9:24-27.   Verse 24 the angel tells Daniel that 70 weeks are determined on Israel.   The Hebrew text for week is shâbûa‛  shâbûa‛  shebû‛âh
shaw-boo'-ah, shaw-boo'-ah, sheb-oo-aw'
Properly passive participle of H7650 as a denominative of H7651; literally sevened, that is, a week (specifically of years): - seven, week.

In verse 27, Daniel speaks of a week (or 7 years=the 70th week which has not happend yet) in which a covenant is made with Israel by the Antichrist.  He then says at the midway point of that week or 7 years (3 and 1/2) that he shall cause sacrifice and oblation to cease, which Jesus speaks about in Matthew 24:15.  While first 3 1/2 years will be bad, afterwards, Jesus continues by saying in verse 21 that then shall be times such as never seen before from the beginning of time or ever again.  Revelation chapter 6 through Chapter 19 give us the fine details of the full week, and Revelation 12:6 appears to mark the midway point.

The tragic loss of life during this 7 years is mind boggeling.  Those who are killed  for their testimony Matt 24:9-14, roughly one and half billion killed by the 4th seal Rev 6:7-8, the multitude too great to be numbered  who come out of the tribulation (must be a lot if John can record numbers like 200 million),  one third of the remaining population die under the sixth trumpet Rev 9:15.   Taking into account there are roughly 7 billion people on the earth now, that comes to nearly 3 billion people killed, in only the first 3 1/2 years!!!  And the later half is suppose to be worse times than ever recorded in history.  No wonder Jesus says in Matt 24, that unless those days be shortened, no flesh would be saved.

The tribulation period of 7 years will be terrible times indeed!

Thank God for ...

1Th 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Grace and Peace!

JudgeNot,
With all due respect, your references do now show the basis for the 7 year tribulation.  They only show what you think will happen during that time (and following) based on the presupposition that the 7 year tribulation is true.

2nd Timothy,
One does not to need to know that much Hebrew to know that a week is seven years in the Bible compared to 7 days today.  They can simply read the account of the life of Jacob in his acquiring of Rachel and Leah.

In order for the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy to be the tribulation, one must know when the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem began or the whole idea falls apart.

Sincerely,
the_end_is_now

I would love to hear the historical basis on this.
