I've never agreed with the popular modern saying "the truth is out there" because it  implies the answers to everything are out there in the universe.
But the so-called "wondrous universe" is nothing more than lifeless chunks of cosmic "builders debris" left over from the Creation, mindlessly floating around and bumping into other chunks.
For example,Andromeda doesn't care about Orion, neither do the Pleiades care tuppence for Ganymede.
That's because dead atoms and molecules CAN'T feel compassion or anything else!
It's only HERE on Earth within ourselves can emotions and compassion be found.
But if we stop caring, we become less than human and no better than all the other useless cosmic junk floating around.
The Truth was given by Jesus. So why do we need to look for it "out there?"
If people are incapable of finding The Truth in the Bible, they're certainly not going to find it "out there" or anywhere else!

Mick,

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with you, but it is really an issue of whether those that are skeptical are able understand, or find the truth, and then not being able to recognize it, while in the natural state.

And even if they could, they can't believe it, unless their is this supernatural intervention of Gods Spirit to shine the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ to give faith to believe.

Blessings,

Petro

Thank you Petro, and as a postcript to my post let me just add that the two recent multi-million dollar Martian probes seem to me nothing more than materialistic mankinds somewhat pathetic attempts to seek the "truth".
The British probe hit Mars on Christmas day and hasn't been heard from since, then the American probe landed and sent back useless pictures of a barren red boulder-strewn desert, prompting lots of gleeful backslapping, beaming smiles,champagne-and-cigar celebrations at mission control!
Yup it's a crazy world alright,and I don't mean Mars!

Interesting stuff!

I agree.  I have always enjoyed science, and astronomy.  Of course I view it differently as a Christian.  Men will always be searching because of the void in their soul.  Whenever I watch a show about how we astronomers are searching the heavens with radio telescopes for the slightest peep of something out there, I can't help but think of how hard they are trying, and all that technology they use, and how far they probe into space....seeking to understand creation, when the creator himself is readily available to them.  Gods patience with man is amazing!

Grace and Peace!

So, is there life "out there?".

The bible indicates that with Adam's fall, ALL of creation was affected. The ALL here includes the heavenly bodies as well.

The only thing Seti will hope to find is the same random radio signals eminating from the stars that it has recieved for years. This despite their building a new array of smaller recieving dishes that can be targeted independantly instead of the one big dish they have that can only listen to one small point of the sky at a time. In other words, now they will be able to listen to multiple points.

Of course, all this in vain when they only need to pick up a bible for the answers.

Finally, Revelation tells us that the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll. This being the case, if there was life out there, this action would invariably destroy their dwelling place(s).

I, therefore, interject that other life forms will not be found outside our planet.

Of course, this is only my narrow-minded view.  Grin

So, how do we define truth? Well, it depends on the mindset you bring to the table. Believers and unbelievers will have different "truths".

Yes its human nature to want to explore by looking "out there",my only gripe is the enormous amount of cash it requires that could be better spent on earth.
A famous French painter (sorry i forget his name) said "There is as much beauty in your own garden as in the whole world"
Hear hear! - gardens are miraculous universes in themselves teeming with miracles of insect and plant life that can keep us endlessly awestruck by contemplating their wonders.
What a difference to that sterile grey ball of useless dust called the Moon, where billions of dollars were poured into manned missions of exploration!

I agree that the truth can only be found through Jesus. But I also believe there is a truth "out there". If there were no truth, then how can Jesus be the truth? The truth is simply the correct answers to every question under the sun. There is an answer to how we were created, to whether or not there are Maritans, etc. We will never know the complete turth about everything but there is one who does. That's why I put my faith in Jesus who can show us the way to the one who has the answers.

Yes,the Bible could have provided scientists with much food for thought and clues over the centuries if only they'd looked at it! For example:-
"With God a thousand years are as one day" (2 Pet 3:Cool [Relativity]
"God hangs the earth on nothing" (Job 26:7) [Spherical earth in space]
"God made the worlds so that what is seen is not made out of what was visible" (Heb 11:3)[Dark matter which still puzzles astronomers.Note too the intriguing plural "worlds" in some bible versions]
"The sky rolled up like a scroll" (Rev 6:14)[Contracting universe]
