Reverse Speech

Hey Everyone. I'm new here and I joined because I have a question. Now I'm not sure if this is the correct section to ask it in, but here it goes: Today I was listening to Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeplin because I like the guitar part in the beginning. Well I heard that there are messages that can be heard, supposedly satanic messages, when the song is played backwards. So, I downloaded the song backwards and heard a few things. Anyways so I have been captivated by the subject these past few hours and have researched reverse speech on the internet. I've read articles and listened to interviews with the Ramseys and songs and such. My question is: Is this an okay subject for a Christian to be involved with. It suppossedly is what our subconscious is thinking and we all speak this way and have from infancy. It's questionable just because of its sensitive nature. But if anyone seriously has a comment I'd be glad to hear it. Thank you!

And do you believe what is written in Gods Word?

I guess the only coment I could make on the subject, is to ask a question.

Why would anyone that is a Christian want to meddle in anything that is considered satanic?

O know people climb mountains because they are there.

But, if messing with satanic things is like messing with fire, isn't it possible to burn oneself??

In the bible, we read on accounts of some who were delivered
from demoniac possessions, and we even see people who appeared to be possessed today.  So knowing this is possible, why do it..

For years I've read books on demonology,the occult,the paranormal, devil-worshipping cults,sects and individuals,and have often spoken directly to the demons in people etc,and its all been a fascinating educational experience because i can now see how satan and his flunkies operate all the clearer.
There's a saying in warfare:-"Know the enemy" so that you'll be able to defeat him all the easier!
I certainly feel strong and confident for knowing the satanic enemy's modus operandii. Never did i get my fingers burnt,for the simple reason I regard satan and his followers as nothing more than pathetic mickey-mouse halfwits who are already beaten but are too dim to know it!
Such people are to be pitied and laughed at,not feared! For example a witch who had invaded a christian chatroom threatened to invoke some Egyptian god called Sekhmet to get me. "Okay just let me know when he's coming and i'll put the kettle on for him" I replied! (That was months ago and he still hasn't come)

Hey paquita,

Hopefully this will help a little...   Usually loosing one's footing with staying in Christ happens gradually. It's the small things that one questions that one has to look out for.  A good thing to always keep in mind is to ask yourself something like "would Jesus listen to this or would he be involved in this?"

But to be more accurate I think your question can have two answers depending on the way one looks at it. It is my guess that it is best not to be involved in it in a way that you are a part of it (or sucked into it). But it is acceptable to learn about it under conditions in which you educate yourself about the things that are wrong with it. In order to teach yourself and others about the hinderances that a subject like that could contribute to a person's spiritual growth.

A good example would be that Jesus was very much involved with sinners when he was here on earth, but he himself was not a sinner. He was involved in order to offer us life instead of death.

If they believe it in suburban areas is it still a legend???  

If you live in a city and are a "legend in your own mind" - does that make you an "urban legend"  

(Satan can show his ugly self from legends if you give him half a chance - he doesn't care how he gets a toe-hold in your life.  I guess that was my point.)

Ok, but what if you know the truth about all that backtaping or whatever it is called, and all of that silliness? Can Satan then work thru it? If you stay informed and don't give him a foothold, can he still gain ground on your life?

Even if it is all true, music is music. He could just as soon tab it out and play it on the guitar as he can listen to the song backwards.

Hi paquita, welcome to the forum.

Many years ago (in my early teens) I too was facinated by this subject.  I listened to quite a bit of Rock at that time.  I believe it was my mom who had warned me about subliminal messages and such when she heard about this through some minister.   I did hear much weirdness in some songs trying to see if it was true.  I can say that the devil never manifested himself while I did this, however, I would say that it is a dangerous activity as some have said.   My deep passion for music eventually lead me away from the Lord in my mid teens.  Music became my very purpose in life.  My motto was eat sleep and play.  And I lived up to it very well.  During my early twenties, the band I was playing became quite popular.  We had our songs spinning on a few radio stations, and even had label interest from the east and west coast, although we were never signed to a record deal (I think God for this everytime I see VH1's behind the music...seems everyone of them has a messed up life).  We were not playing devil music per se', but it was far from Godly.

The reason I tell you all this is, Satan is quite crafty.  My obsession with music and its ability to move peoples emotions I found extremely facinating.  In fact, I believe this is the main reason I got away from God during my late teens and early 20's.   Music is a powerful thing, and Satan knows this.  As a matter of fact, Lucifer as described in the bible had musical instruments built into his body (Eze 28:13) perhaps for the very purpose of leading the Angels in praise and worship before his fall.  He was a virtuoso!   I believe this is possibly how he convinced a 3rd of the Angels to follow him in his attempted overthrow of God, by inspiring them through his musical abilities.

Now I'm not trying to say that all music is evil,  but I don't believe its necessary to hear songs backwards to understand the message the artists are attempting to convey.  Never the less, music does tug and ones heart strings, good or bad, and moves peoples emotions, even very subtlely at times.  Filling your heart with ungodly things is warned about in scripture.  While the idea of backwards masking seems to be debatable, hearing a song in its normal frontward play should be enough to tell whether its message is good or bad.

Listen to music that lifts your soul, and glorifies God!   You can't go wrong this way!

Well said. I know many people who think they have been touched by God through “Shout to the North” when in truth, it is a good song. I had someone in my praise band once describe the feeling he gets when he plays this song, the chills, the butterflies. Sad part is, I get the same feeling when I play “Fox on the Run.” Musical counseling is now a legitimate form of Psychological counseling. A Friend of mind, who is both a Musician and a PhD, works at a prison as a counselor, the state allows him to do all musical counseling. Armies sing/chant to increase moral before a battle, or during training. Today, we see it all the time on TV, the solders singing along with the Leader as they march, so keep them in rhythm, and boost moral. They believed Ancient Bards had magical powers because of they way they can turn a crowd with there songs. Music is a power tool, it has ways of effecting the psyche we haven’t even begun to understand.

I play guitar.  Or as some folks here in Texas call it...the Geetar!..lol  

I'm a Floridian transplant to Texas.  This may sound odd, but I feel that God removed me from Florida to get me out of the music scene I was involved in.  Music was such a huge influence in my life, that even after turning to Christ, music still overshadowed him in my walk.  I feel that God wants to use the talent he's given me for his glory, but its an area in my Christian walk that I still struggle with somewhat.
