My son and I got to see a sneak peek of this movie last night. It is the latest to come out of Sherwood Studios, the makers of Facing the Giants and Flywheel.
Let me also say that God wanted us to see this movie. My pastor and his wife were originally going to go. But something came up and the night before the show he called me to see if me and my wife wanted to go. Well my wife did not but my son really wanted to see the movie...so we decided to make it a father, son evening of it. I went into work early so I could get out early so we could go see the movie.
I am in Huntsville, AL and the movie was in Chattanooga, TN, which is about a 2 hr drive. Well my son and I left at 4:30 and started out. Figured around 6:30 we would be there. As we were heading out Satan had other plans and there was an accident that delayed us about 20 minutes. So now we were going to be pushing it, because we even needed to stop at a drive thru and get dinner. Which we did.
Well as we get closer to Chat and hit the city limits I am getting out my map to find out where the theater is and such. I look at my cell phone to see what time it is. It says 7:10pm. I am at first like "WHAT?!?! How can it be 7 already?!" Then the light bulb clicks on...Chat is on Eastern and I came from Central. My son was not a little disheartened because it looks like we are going to miss the first 20-30 minutes of the movie. But we said we would push on.
We get there and go into the theater and go to the sign up booth and the lady says that they have been having some technical difficulties and that the movie is just now starting. We missed maybe 5 minutes.

Now that the story is done let me tell you about this movie.
The movie deters slightly from the previous Sherwood films. The primary focus for the previous films was on salvation. And salvation does play a very pivotal role in this one, however the primary focus is relationships. However downplayed the salvation aspect of things were in the movie when it was there it was impacting. And the movie showed that nothing can be done correctly without Christ.
One thing that is apparent wtih this movie is that Sherwood is focusing on outreach and how to counsel couples and individuals. They are looking to get big groups out to the movies of couples in need, and things of that nature that pastors, deacons, teachers, and the like can follow up with and discuss what is found in the movies and how it relates to their lives. On the website for the movie and the focus on the marriage sister site for the move is tons of resources for churches to use to setup a series of teachings on marriage and things of that nature.
I am not going to get into telling you the story, just realize that the couple in the movie are struggling with everyday issues that plague our marriages today. There is pornography, respect, love, mutual understanding issues, and so much more that this couple struggle with. And also know that even when he tried that until he came to Jesus, his heart was not in it. The story of salvation, forgiveness, and redemption are heart warming. And like all of the Sherwood films, I was left with tears in my eyes.
The movie is due out in September. There is resources available on the websites. I would strongly encourage Pastors, Deacons, and church leaders to seriously consider the training material if they know of anyone in their community or church that could use some marriage counseling.
