I WONDER

            I wonder why it's taken me
            So long to see the truth
            That while The Lord's been pruning me
            I've acted all aloof
            Now it's time for surgery
            A great big manky root
            Must be removed from deep inside
            To make way for my fruit.

            It's taken years for me to reach
            The point of no return
            I've reached the stage, despite my age
            Obedience I must learn
            Into the hands of counsellers
            I yield my deepest friends
            A thorough clean is what I need
            To make all my amends.
