How Do I Get Closer To God?

I don't feel close to God anymore. How do I get back to feeling close to God? This is a problem that many encounter and question that many have at one time or another in their walk with Christ. There is a saying that has been around for many years.

"If you don't feel close to God - guess who moved?"

Jesus tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God does not lie. He keeps His promises to us. If you are feeling as though He has then perhaps you need to do something to get back to where you need to be.

I see a lot of people that are lukewarm in their walk with Christ. They get comfortable in their little niche in life doing what they have for a long time and don't want to move anywhere else. If we don't grow then we are actually becoming as stagnant water. Stagnant water easily becomes disease and bug infested.

What is the easiest way to avoid this unhealthy situation? Talk to God daily, not just once but every waking minute. As David says Praise God in the morning when you first awake, praise Him at noon, praise Him before you go to sleep, praise Him all the day long. We need to also take time each day to study His word ... not just to read it but to actually dig down deep, with fervent prayer, into His word. The Bible is not just a book. It is God's written word to us. He has provided answers to everything that we need to know within it's pages. The Bible is the prescription shop for what ails us. Studying His word, talking with Him and praising Him daily moves us out of those stagnant waters into a real relationship with Him, letting us experience the Living Waters more thoroughly.

Take some time out today for studying God's word. Having trouble studying on your own? Join in with others in a study and soon you will see what I mean.
