Brothers and Sisters,

If each Christian had a simple and easy to understand objective for every single day we have left on this earth, what do you think that objective would be?

Please do keep the answer simple enough for everyone to understand and give some supporting Scriptures for your opinion. I'm sure there will be more than one answer, but our instructions from the Holy Bible are exceptionally simple. I'm not talking about the narrow goals GOD may have laid on your heart to accomplish today, rather of the broad objectives for the rest of your life.

I'm hoping and praying that the various answers will be interesting and lead to thoughts, prayer, and Bible Study for all of us.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ephesians 1:18-23 NASB I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

My friends, this is the goal that the Lord has put on my heart. It should be, in my opinion the goal of every believer. And that is the ministry of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19     17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

To reach the lost and snatch them from the grips of the enemy. He has blinded their minds so that they may not believe in Christ and the only way for their eyes to be opened is for us to preach the gospel to the lost.

2 Corinthians 4:3-5     3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious      gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

They have to see Christ in me and not me in me.

AMEN ARMORBEARER!

You gave a great answer and some beautiful Scripture! Let's give a few others the chance to respond, and we'll have an uplifting discussion.

I really can't add anything to this.  You have covered what we do here at the mission!  Our whole purpose is to love God and share Him with everyone that we can.  My daily prayer is that I can be the face of Christ to others.  Not me.  Not Yvette.  But Christ who lives in me.

Amen Sister Yvette!

I was hoping we would have top priorities worded or put different ways. These will be the basis for our discussion. GOD has given us many ways to achieve what HE wants done. Everyone else, please feel welcome to post your ideas.

No Condemnation in Him

« Reply #5 on: April 05, 2008, 10:15:08 PM »

Well let me say this then.  I have been contemplating lately what Jesus said when asked which was the greatest commandment.

Matt 22: 37-40 - Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hand on these two commandments.

I think that first you have to have a good, strong and healthy realtionship with God.  That is our purpose.  It's why we were created in the first place.  If you do, you will be able to weather all that comes at you in life.  Your hope will be so securely in Him that you won't falter.  Also I believe that you must have a good relationship with God before you can have a healthy relationship with another human being.  Whether it be romance or a solid friendship.  And of course if you are to witness to others.  If you aren't filled with love for God and filled with God's love for you, you can't lead a very productive life.  (Yes, I'm speaking from experience.)
And then second: "Love your neighbor as yourself".  This isn't about how you treat the family next door.  This is about how you treat everyone that you come into contact with.  Are we showing them the face of Christ when we are cut off in traffic or approached by a panhandler?  Are we showing grace when someone pulls into the parking spot that we had own eye on?, etc.  Are we just Godly with our Christians friends or do we understand that God loves everyone and does't want any to perish?  Are we happy when God blesses someone abundantly, but we are driving a broken down old beater?

God actually spoke to me just recently, that my Community College education and sound mental health doesn't make me any more loveable to him than a difficult client, with serious mental issues, we just had come through the mission.
God humbled me gently, but firmly. (So glad when He's gentle because I hate pain.  Cheesy)  And I'm so glad He did!  That shows me that He cares enough about me to point it out so that I can work on it, and change.  And it showed me that he loves this other person just as much and that I was here to represent Him to her.

What a good God we have.

In Christ,
Yvette

ANOTHER AMEN!

We have another excellent answer. There should be no surprise that the answers are related to each other. What we are looking at is what GOD wants a Christian's short life on this earth to be. GOD has given us more than just hints about what makes HIM happy and pleases HIM.

As Christians, we have peace with GOD when CHRIST is the LORD over our lives. Salvation is just a first step, and we know there is NO condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST. HOWEVER, there is much more that not only impacts the rest of this short life, the MUCH MORE impacts all of Eternity.

Brothers and Sisters, "How Do We Please GOD?" was the real purpose for this question and discussion. Salvation is wonderful, but there is much more. There are many wonderful examples in the Holy Bible that help us answer the question about How to Please GOD. The answers make "our Joy more Full" in this short life and the Eternal Life to come. All of the answers have some common denominators, the first being that they GLORIFY GOD - NOT man and certainly NOT us. The second does involve Loving GOD and others according to Matthew 22:37-40. It's not ironic that two words could take the place of all the common denominators:  REAL LOVE.

We have some great answers, but maybe some others wish to participate. So, let's wait a little bit and see who else wants to join in. Everyone should know they are welcome to join in at any time. Please think about the following questions that relate directly to this discussion:

1 - Will we see the fulfllment of what GOD really wants for us in this short life?

2 - What was the real purpose for GOD Creating mankind?

3 - Is Salvation all that GOD wants for us?

4 - Is there a difference between "Peace with GOD" and "Pleasing GOD"?

5 - Does GOD give us the means to Please HIM, and will HE help us Please HIM if that's what we really want?

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ephesians 1:18-23 NASB I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.      God loves us, more than we'll ever know.  Matt. 22:37-40 is how we remain in righteousness or in right standings with God.   To add to this Jesus said this:

John 14:15    If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Did you catch that. If we truely love Christ, we will keep His commandments.  You don't love God by merely saying it. We show our love be action and make sure that our motives are right and pure because God looks at our hearts. The reason why I say this is because we can do the right thing for the wrong reason. We can go out and witness for Christ, but the motive could be for self gain and to receive praise of men.

But if we truely love the Lord, we will seek His face and find out how we, on an individual basis can please Him.  It is rightly said, God wants us to be saved 1st. Then He wants us to learn how to live right. And everyone, has been given the ministry of reconciliation.  But not everyone is called to be a disciple.   There are different levels on which each person can please God. God will not put an expectation on us that we cannot fulfill. So, we please Him by fulfilling Matt.22:37- 40, and John 14:15. Then when God requires more(which varies on an individual basis), we please Him more by yielding to the direction of His Holy Spirit.

1 - Will we see the fulfllment of what GOD really wants for us in this short life?

Isaiah 55:11    11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

If GOD spoke it, then it shall come to pass. His expectations for us are written in His Word. So yes we will see the fulfillment of what God wants. Whether or not we live to see it, HIS Word shall come to pass.

Amen Armorbearer!

I can already see this is going to be a wonderful and uplifting discussion.

I don't think we're going to see any disagreement at all in this discussion. The worst we might have is confusion about how we might word something. For this reason, let's all give each other some room for how we express our thoughts and how they might be perceived differently by others. Here's a perfect example:

Quote
1 - Will we see the fulfllment of what GOD really wants for us in this short life?

Isaiah 55:11    11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Brother, your answer is an ABSOLUTE BIBLE FACT that I will never doubt for a second. The misunderstanding is how I worded my question and my failure to be more clear and specific. I see that I messed the question up badly, so let me try again. I promise to try harder to avoid confusion.

1 - As Christians, will we exercise our Citizenship in Heaven or claim our Inheritance with the Saints in LIGHT during this short life on earth?

Please let me say a little more on this question to eliminate any confusion. GOD wants to give us many things that we won't receive during this short life. One involves a Promise made by GOD to give us a Glorified Body like the one CHRIST has at HIS Appointed Time. GOD has MUCH MORE HE wants to give us than the things of this world, and this world is NOT our home. Our Promises from GOD are more beautiful than mankind can even imagine, but GOD will fulfill every Promise Perfectly at HIS Appointed Time.

Brothers and Sisters, I'm really glad this happened. It gives us an example of how easy it is for two people to be talking about two different things and not know it. This is especially true for trying to communicate on a forum in written form. This is a reminder for me to be more clear and precise. However, I LOVE the FACT that arose from the confusion:  GOD'S WORD is never wasted - IT NEVER returns VOID!

Love In Christ,
Tom

God is so merciful and kind to us. And it is AMAZING that HE would take something that is messed up, and say that " I'M GONNA FIX IT, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T BRAKE IT". After Adam caused the fall of man in the Garden, GOD didn't throw man away and say i'm gonna make another one.( that would've given the devil the victory) GOD in HIS infinite wisdom and having compassion on HIS creation, put HIS plan of salvation into action and redeemed us unto HIMSELF. HE is the ALMIGHTY GOD and there is none like HIM.  GLORY, Halleluja!!!

1 - As Christians, will we exercise our Citizenship in Heaven or claim our Inheritance with the Saints in LIGHT during this short life on earth?

As Christians, I believe it is totally up to us on how much we receive or don't receive from God.  We are the children of a KING! And even though our true citizenship does not reside in this world, God has given us authority to exercise our gifts and receive HIS promises in our life time. But how much we receive relies on each individual. We get out of the Word what we put into the Word.

In order to get right down to it, look at blackeyedpeas question again.  The keys I see is " will we exercise...".   Exercising requires us to do some work, not GOD do the work for us. Now it was also said that God wants to give us Glorfied bodies as the one Christ displayed that He had on " the mount of transfiguration". And this is well said. And he showed 3 of His disciples this body while He was on this earth, before He went to the Cross. And Jesus said the things He did we shall do and greater things shall we do  John 14:12.  I want you to realize something, and this is personal opinion. The bible says that Jesus waxed strong in the Spirit and in knowledge  which means He had to study the Word and know the Word and meditate on the Word. Look at how long Jesus studied the Word and think about how much we study the Word in between watching TV.

So in order for us to receive and walk in the manifested promises of God, it's gonna take a little work or exercise. I can go a little further on this but i'll see what everyone else has to say.  Bottom line, it's up to each individual on what they receive and what they claim or take hold of in this life.

Hello Armorbearer,

I guess that we're singing two different songs, but I'll let someone else reply. Maybe some later posts will get us all on the same sheet of music.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Romans 8:16-23  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

On the answer to this question, explain to me where we differ.

Maybe i'm still a little off as to what you're asking. In my previous answer, I was talking about what we will or will not get out of this life. I think I get it now. You're talking about after this life is over?   I get this conclusion by reading your response in Romans 8:16-23. If this is correct then I read through your question too fast and jumpedd to answer.  If so my apologies. Smiley

Col 1:12  Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

What is this "inheritance of the saints in light"? This is alluding to the inheritance of division of land to the twelve tribes of Israel. This is just an analogy of that for Christians, for we know that our inheritance is in heaven and not of this world:

1Pe 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
