Who is born again?

Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. To love is to love even those who have not loved us and to compensate for the offenses they have committed against us (1 John 4:7-10). Those who are born of God are in the light and follow His footsteps.  They, therefore, love others and hate none (1 John 2:6-7).

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

 Now lets look at something else here.

I believe first and formost Christians should be out winning lost souls to Jesus, yet we need to be carefull not to sell worthless fire insurance.

When ever i have had joy of eing used by God to help a lost soul find it's way home I allways have them pray to God out of their own words. I tell them to just talk to God, to in their own words to ask for forgiveness and to ask for His help to live for Him. This way it is from their heart and not just some repeted words that really don't mean something. Now I am not saying that a sinners prayer is wrong or that people have not been saved this way.

A "prayer of salvation" is just the same as the prayer Jesus taught His disciples. It is meant as an example not necessarily a strict by the book prayer. Prayer needs to come from the heart, not just the mind alone. Salvation is of the heart and not just the mind alone.

Even atheists have people they love. Does that make them "born of God"?

 Just asking , because I am knew here, my question is , the words  " born again " taken from John 3:3 or are we using 2 Cor 5: 17 , that we are a new creature in Christ ?

Actually it is both. When we are born again we are made "a new creature in Christ".
