            The new year is here
Though it feels just the same
            We tried to behave
            When the family all came
            Our coffers are empty
            The card debt is grim
            The mas without Christ
            Didn't celebrate Him.

            We had to buy presents
            For everyone known
            The parties we hosted
            Were the best ever thrown
            We sidestepped the reason
            We must be quite dim
            The mas without Christ
            Didn't celebrate Him.

            And so, as we ponder
            Repenting like mad
            We realise, sadly
            That we have been bad
            Next time, we promise
            All excess we'll trim
            And celebrate Christmas
            Surrounded by Him.
