George Howe Colt wrote in a recent issue of Life magazine, "There hasn't been this much interest in angels since the Renaissance." To be sure there is a growing obsession with angels in American culture today. But, BEWARE! Most of what is being taught about angles in secular magazines and books is celestial quackery. We are being told that angels are a kind of "God Lite" for those who "are uncomfortable fearing god..." Another popular author says, "Angels are a gateway to spirituality for people who find the Judeo-Christian image of God too threatening." Others make bizarre claims like "soft green clothes lure in guardian angels." Add yet another dimension to these wildly unbiblical teachings -- the occult! A New Jersey company makes a "talking board designed specifically to communicate with angels" (a celestial Ouija board!). Another company produces "Celestial Wisdom Cards" (an angelic tarot deck). For $75 "an angelic counselor" will "introduce people to their guardian angels..." by channeling.

Can you see how that fallen angel Satan has transformed himself into an angel of light? Many unsuspecting people are being introduced to occult practices which God forbids (Deut. 18:9-12). Heed the advice of Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Look to the Bible for your "angelic theology."

ANGEL FACTS AND FANTASIES

There are elect angels and evil angels

1Ti 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Angels are created beings, created by Christ

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

People do not turn into angels when they die

Psa 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

The world's portrayal of angels is primarily female but the Bible's is male

Luk 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luk 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

Angels are powerful beings not "fluff and meringue"

Psa 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

We are not to worship or pray to angels

Rev 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Rev 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

It is not biblical to seek to find out the name of angels that are not revealed in the Bible

Jdg 13:17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
Jdg 13:18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

Christians will judge angels

1Co 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
