Edwards Will Force Healthcare Program On Everyone

Wow! Whatever happened to Democrats being pro-choice? Will this forced health care pay for abortions too? Don’t Democrats believe that women should make their own health care decisions? Talk about totalitarianism!

Quote
The frontrunning Democrats are just tripping over themselves in their efforts to one-up the unspeakable idiocy of each other’s healthcare plans.

“I’m mandating healthcare for every man woman and child in America and that’s the only way to have real universal healthcare.”

“Evertime you go into contact with the helathcare system or the govenment you will be signed up.”

During a press avail following the event Edwards reiterated his mandate:

“Basically every time they come into contact with either the healthcare system or the government, whether it’s payment of taxes, school, going to the library, whatever it is they will be signed up.”

When asked by a reporter if an individual decided they didn’t want healthcare Edwards quickly responded, “You don’t get that choice.“

Hmmm…here is a scary thought. How is Edwards planning on enforcing this? Role model? Hugo Chavez!

This is not unlike what Hugo Chavez is doing:

Quote
The Venezuelan president, Hugo Chávez, today threatened to strip the country’s industrialists of their assets if they continued to oppose his indefinite presidency.

Chávez faces a vote at the weekend on his proposals to change 69 articles of the constitution, including scrapping the limit on the number of terms a president can serve.

Venezuela’s largest business chamber, Fedecámaras, to which thousands of large and small businesses belong, has called the planned reforms an “illegal act”, and called on voters to oppose their passage “by every possible legal means”.

That sounds just like socialism, in fact that is socialism.

Actually it is a step beyond socialism. It is definitely communism.

Clinton blasts Obama health care TV ad
Says she'll consider garnishing wages of people who don't enroll in her mandatory plan

Hillary Clinton's top advisers say she'll consider garnishing the wages of people who fail to enroll in her mandatory health insurance plan - on a day when the campaign launched a blistering attack on Barack Obama's health care proposal.

Clinton, using her signature issue as a cudgel against a revitalized opponent, demanded that Obama take down a TV ad that has been airing in New Hampshire for several weeks. The ad claims that Obama's plan provides coverage for all Americans. At last month's debate in Las Vegas, Clinton charged that the Illinois senator's reform proposal - which doesn't include the mandate favored by Clinton and many experts - would leave out as many as 15 million Americans.

"Even Sen. Obama himself has admitted that his plan would not cover everyone, calling the plan 'virtually universal,'" Clinton aide Patti Solis Doyle wrote to Obama's campaign chief. "Until the time comes when Sen. Obama has a plan that will cover everyone, you should stop running this false advertisement."

Obama adviser David Axelrod laughed off the request, saying the Clinton campaign had "hit turbulence and needed an issue to steady itself." On a conference call with reporters to discuss the ad, Clinton policy chief Neera Tanden said the senator would "look at" working with employers to "automatically enroll employees, going through and withholding part of their salaries to pay for it - those are reasonable steps to enforce a mandate." When Clinton rolled out her plan earlier this year, Tanden hinted that the mandate might be enforced by threatening to deny tax deductions to people who refused to enroll for insurance.

Obama mocked Clinton during the Las Vegas debate for not revealing how she would enforce the mandate, saying, "She is not garnishing people's wages."

On Friday, he took aim at her at the Democratic National Committee meeting in a Washington suburb, using what is typically a party-building pep rally to suggest she is too divisive to win.

"I don't want to spend 2008 re-fighting the same fights that we had in the 1990s," he said. "That's exactly what Mitt and Rudy want ... the same bitter partisanship and the same electoral map we've had for far too long."

Clinton withdrew from the conference after learning of the hostage incident in her Rochester, N.H., office.

Amen on that but there will come a time that there will be those that will demand otherwise. As grammy indicated I wouldn't put it past Hillary to be one of those.

I'm with ya DW.  I just can't believe the egos of Hillary and those of her kind, that think they are going to "make" the people do what they want.  She is thinking that if she gets the office that she will have the final say on whatever it is she is pushing.  All hail Queen Hillary!  NOT.  I can just see her flying around on her broom casting evil spells if she loses.  Actually if she wins too!

Hahaha!  I can't believe that I actually found a graphic with her on a broom!  I just figured if there wasn't one; there should be!  Hahaha!

Maybe that's because it's a daily occurrence for her.

The World Health Organization's ranking
of the world's health systems. (2000)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rank       Country

1         France
2         Italy
3         San Marino
4         Andorra
5         Malta
6         Singapore
7         Spain
8         Oman
9         Austria
10        Japan
11        Norway
12        Portugal
13        Monaco
14        Greece
15        Iceland
16        Luxembourg
17        Netherlands
18        United  Kingdom
19        Ireland
20        Switzerland
21        Belgium
22        Colombia
23        Sweden
24        Cyprus
25        Germany
26        Saudi Arabia
27        United  Arab  Emirates
28        Israel
29        Morocco
30        Canada ***
31        Finland
32        Australia
33        Chile
34        Denmark
35        Dominica
36        Costa Rica
37        United  States  of  America ***
38        Slovenia
39        Cuba ***
40        Brunei

The U. S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country but ranks 37 out of 191 countries according to its performance, the report finds. The United Kingdom, which spends just six percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on health services, ranks 18th .

http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the risk of interupting this Edwards and Clinton bashing, perhaps we could actually address the topic of healthcare and note that America's health system ranks 37th in the world, somewhere between Costa Rica and Slovenia.

Based on the % of GDP spent on healthcare, Americans should expect that they have already financed the best medical system that money can buy.

In theory, competition associated with capitalist healthcare system should reduce costs and make access to US medical care and perscription drugs among the most cost effective in the world.

In reality, its the national public healthcare systems that have been much criticized as "socialism" and "communism" that are the most cost effective.

One would expect that most people are more concerned about access to quality, affordable healthcare than "... ISMS."

I wouldn't put much validity in what WHO has to say on this matter. It is a UN organization that has been highly known politicize it's figures and reports according to the UN agenda.

Considering that the question is asked ...  Is the U.S. healthcare the best system in the world? Perhaps not but revamping it into the system that Edwards and H. Clinton want it to be is not the answer. Their proposed healthcare system is nothing more than what is being done in Cuba which ranks 39 even on the list that you provided. It is nothing more than a system that is designed to control the people not to insure that more affordable healthcare is provided.
