Bill Bennett calls for a national 'relearning'

Conservative radio talk-show host and former U.S. Education Secretary Bill Bennett warns that America cannot be "the last best hope" if it engages in "preemptive cultural surrender."

The host of the radio program Morning in America says the cultural surrender taking place in America comes from confusion. While addressing the Values Voters Summit, Dr. Bill Bennett railed against those in America who call terrorists "insurgents" or "rebels" and compared them to the nation's own revolutionaries.

Such cultural confusion, he said, also comes in the form of a politically correct security strategy in airports, pressuring Israel to cease defense operations against an enemy that is sworn to destroy the U.S., and granting enemy combatants rights under the U.S. justice system. According to Bennett, cultural surrender can also lead to battlefield surrender.

"We need a great relearning in many things. And one aspect of that relearning is this: it is always wrong to surrender when there are good, strong, brave and noble men among us," he says. "And one of these noble men, a noble soldier, stepped into the breech. Not Leonidas of the 300 Spartans, but Petraeus of the 300 million Americans," he says in reference to General David Petraeus, who currently commands all U.S. troops in Iraq. "Let us praise him and those under his command."

Brothers and Sisters,

I understand and agree with Mr. Bill Bennett 100%. The terrorists should not be compared to patriots or anything good at all. They are cowards who intentionally target the innocent. Their goals are conquest and tyranny, and they have nothing to do with anything noble. They are even brutal and barbaric with their own people and their own families. In short, they are violent fanatics with no thought of justice for anyone.
