Hello. I'm new to this forum.. I am A Missionary Baptist pastor [BMA] in Denham Springs, LA. I am originally from Ohio, but married a [Orange] Texas gal in 1961 and she made a Texan outta me . Since being in the pastorate, I have pastored in Vidor, TX, Ada, OK, Sedalia, MO, Healdton, OK and now in Denham Springs, LA .

Mu user name "Rajuncajun" is just to identify my locale. I love the cajun people and their culture.  Grin

BMA? I'm sorry to here that. Grin lol j/k. What part are you in now? I'm not sure where Denham Springs is. We are of from Lafayette/Eunice area.

I'm the resident Coon-ass, and all that implies. Never really lived in La, my Father was in the Armed FOrces while I was born, never had a chance to live in La, but I think all the time I've spent there makes up for it. And having a last name like Thibodeaux helps a bit, too. Grin Living in East Texas for now.

BMA = Baptist Missionary Association of America. We were once a part of the ABA {American Baptist Association} but divided in 1950.

Hmmmm! A cajun what never lived in cajun country! How unique....What part of East Texas are you in? Having lived there for about 25 years and married an East Texan, I'm familiar with a lot of that area.

Denham Springs is just east of Baton Rouge off I-12. I'm in a rural area S/E of Denham Springs and really closer to Walker. Our children in this community go to Walker schools, altho we have a Denham Springs address.

We have some friends from East Texas in Lafayette. He manages the Metal-Mart in Carencro.

I sound have just put “BMA? I’m sorry.” So I can now reply “Oh, I know who they  are, I’m just sorry.” Yeah, I’ve have a few run-ins with them. Wink

Eh, it is just the ones in this Town. Competition brings out the worst in Christians. We have a BMA and an SBC church, both equally as big, and both have been battling since they split a while back. Oh, the stories I could tell would make your blood boil as a BMA and a Christian. It's all petty. Angry Maybe you can move down here and help knock 'em out of it. Grin

What part of East Texas is your wife from?

I missed the post after your BMA one. Sorry. I think I've been thru Walker once or twice. The name rings a bell.

My wife was born in Jasper and raised in Orange. She has kinfolk in Newton, Berkeville, Jasper and up around Gilmer. My daughter lived in Jasper for many years but now lives over here with us.   I preached a lot around Jasper, Hemphill, Kirbyville and around that area as a young preacher waiting for the call to pastor.

We used to live in the Ft. Hood/Killeen are, and we went to La all the time, by way of Orange. Why is it everyone seems to know Orange. The town is like with, 50 people? Grin
