Hello Everyone:

Although I've been a member for almost 2 years - I rarely post. I am posting today because I've got a question for all of the liberal Christians here.

Do any of you have any real-life stories about the more conservative views of "original sin" and how it impacted your daily life?

I've never really lived the more conservative branches of Christianity. I've had a lot of exposure, but I grew up in a liberal home and was never really exposed as a child (or young adult) to the perils of literalism.

And yet, I see all around me people who are imprisoned by literalistic theology. The doctrine of "original sin", and it's impact on real life, is probably the most baffling for me to understand. I've seen this impact real people in very unhealthy ways and I'm trying to understand it. So... I guess that's why I'm asking the question...

Do any of you have any real-life stories about the more conservative views of "original sin" and how it impacted your daily life?

Thanks In Advance - R_G

I seriously do not think that you are going to find what you are looking for here. It is through the knowledge that we are all sinners by nature that leads us to the knowledge that we need Jesus Christ in our lives. If not for this sin nature there would have been no need for Jesus to have died on the cross. The teaching that this is not true leads to universalism and "the paths are many" which is not permitted on this forum. We know that the path is narrow and that Jesus Christ is the only way to Salvation.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Salvation, salvation from death under the law by God's perfect grace.

Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Rom 3:20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Rom 3:27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Rom 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Rom 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Rom 3:28  Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 4:21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Rom 4:24  But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom 5:1  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Where you were headed with this is exactly what the "original sin" was.  To often people equate the sin to the act.  It was not the act of Adam and Eve eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that was the sin.  It was them placing their ideas of what was good and evil over that of God...it was man placing his judgment over the judgment of God.

And the universalism concept of many paths to God is man once again trying to put his judgment over that of God... "If you are a good person God will accept it if you follow Buddha, Mohammed, or anyone else"....what a load of baloney.  PR has already posted many of the verses that show contrary to that.

Jesus said He was the Truth.  Jesus said He was the Way.  Jesus said that NONE may come to the Father but through Him.  If you or anyone else could get to God through buddha then Jesus is a liar.  And Jesus is no liar so you can not get to God through buddha or anyone else for that matter.

You want real life on how a conservative view of things has impacted someone?  I have never...NEVER felt so secure in not only my salvation, but in my faith of having God with me, than when I put aside the silly stuff of the world and understood that it is ONLY through Jesus that I may gain salvation.

That conservative view has kept my family strong even when I faltered.  That conservative view has raised two on fire for God boys.  Because both are secure in who they are in Christ.

That is real life.  One that Jesus wants for all of us.

Rose I will be praying for you.  I pray that God convicts your heart and shows you the truth.  I strongly urge you to read the Bible.  Start with John and learn about who Jesus was.  Then move to Romans and find out why Jesus came.  Jesus said He was the Truth and the Way.  I pray that you come to the father through Him.

Amen Brother Jerry and Pastor Roger!

I also give thanks that I belong to JESUS CHRIST. This is the ONLY WAY to say that you are Saved or you are a Christian. This is simply the TRUTH, and it has nothing to do with being conservative or liberal.

After looking at Rose's deleted post, I doubt very seriously that she has a clue what a Christian is. If anyone is wondering, it was one of those "any god is just fine" posts. You're just fine with pagan gods and any god. The name for this VERY false teaching is called Universalism, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Christianity or CHRIST. Rose refused to cooperate with warnings and is no longer with us.

I don't understand why anyone would think material like this would be welcome on a Christian forum. I would also wonder why anyone would think that the Christians on Christians Unite are "Liberal Christians". Maybe Rose will find some self- proclaimed Christians who will understand, BUT they won't be Christians.

Rose, if you or your friends are reading this, you are LOST! Please read the next post and find out how to be saved.

Love In Christ,
Tom

GOOD NEWS!

1:  Romans 3:10 NASB  as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."

2:  Romans 3:23  NASB  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

3:  Romans 5:12  NASB  Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--

4:  Romans 6:23  NASB  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

5:  Romans 1:18  NASB  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

6:  Romans 3:20  NASB  because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

7:  Romans 3:27  NASB  Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.

8:  Romans 5:8-9  NASB  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

9:  Romans 2:4  NASB  Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

10:  Romans 3:22  NASB  even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;

11:  Romans 3:28  NASB  For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

12:  Romans 10:9  NASB  that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

13:  Romans 4:21  NASB  and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.

14:  Romans 4:24 NASB  but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

15:  Romans 5:1  NASB  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

16:  Romans 10:10  NASB  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

17:  Romans 10:13  NASB  for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Amen Brothers!

Unlike some people may think, All are welcome to come to the knowledge and understanding of Christ and to be a true Christian. Only those that refuse to do so are excluded and that is by their own choice. The choice is yours. Do want to spend an eternity in the torment of Hell or would you rather spend it in the loving arms of our Father, Jesus Christ in Heaven?

There are two posts here in this thread to show you how to get to heaven. The time is today, right now this minute. Come to Him.
