Ditto, Sapphire - although my tastes seem to center more on Russian/slavonic dances, and I love Handel's Messiah...

Yeah, I voted yes. Classical is just like every other music in the fact that fame is 50% who you know, 30% what you can market out, and 20% how good you are. Mainstream sucks, whether it is a Britnay Spears or Beethoven. I think Beethoven's music is average for classical. I'm a fan of the Anglican Church Music, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, etc, the English Renaissance music, you know. Back in the day, WAY before U2, the brits knew about music! Gregorian Chants are great, too. I like a lot of classical, but Beethoven is just so... basic. Don't get wrong, he has some good stuff, but I think there are guys with 10 times his skill out there who arn't getting near the fame he is.
Handel's Messiah is good. My mom LOVE'S it. You and her should trade notes. Who do you think does the best version, Willow?

I'm not sure...my mom must've checked out every version that exists, but she says there's one she can't find anymore that is her absolute favorite.

Yeah? I need a present for my mom. She is one of those hard ot shop for people. If you think of a good version, let me know. You have to be careful with classical music. There are some pathetic sounding versions
What else do you like? Any Tallis? Any Bach? What am I saying, EVERYONE likes Bach! You can go to Ozfest, yell out "Bach Rulz!" and get a Moshpit to Overture No. 2. You can go to Grand old Orpy, put Buch to the fiddle, and be the biggest Show sence St. Johnny Cash! Everyone likes Bach!

I like Johnny Cash, too.
Not classical - but hey, he's older'n me, that's Classical enough.
One of my favorites is "The Sorceror's Apprentice"...also (and I can't think of the name at the moment!) there is a lovely earful of the seven days of Creation, contained on a single record...

Ugh. Chances are I'd unconciously burn them before getting them in your hands. Ozzy makes me want to puke. And I sometimes do.

Ozzy, they walking anti-drug commercial:
This is you. *Shows clip of a normal human, relaxing in his front yard, watching his beautiful young wife had his son and daughter*
This is you on drugs *Ozzy walking through his house shouting 'SHARON' for 3 minutes straight*
Any questions.
There ya go. Anti-Drug commercials need to stop lying to the youth, and just show clips from 'The Osborne‘s.'
Anyways, the Ozfest is something you go to just to say you go to it. Lollapalooza is the event!

Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 in C minor is sweet, yeah.
Mozart is hard to beat.
Bach too.
Those three, in the classical world, are considered the top.
I like about any kind of music that is thoughtfully put together. Some Country is really nice; pop, rock.
It's hard to generalize. For every pop song that hits the charts, look how many don't ever make it. And when you listen to them, you realize why.
Same with classical. I'd guess that only 40 percent, if that much, of classical is worth a second listen.
Music that separates the men from the boys, is just not that common.
But listen to, say, Beethoven's Concerto No. 3, mentioned above, then switch over to your favorite pop song, listen to it, then switch back again.
I venture to say you won't go back to pop again.
