John 17 is not the Lords prayer, least not that I heard of or have been lead.  I teach the Lords prayer from Matthew 6.

I agree that the Lord's Prayer in Mat and Luke is not the Lord's prayer in that He Himself prayed it. After all He was perfect, without sin and did not need to pray for forgiveness. It is called the Lord's Prayer because it is the prayer that He used for teaching others to pray, the Lord's example for us.

The prayer that you mentioned in John is the prayer that He Himself prayed.

Joh 9:4  I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
