Psychics???

Dear Christian Soldiers,

Here's a question that has suddenly begun to bug me! 

I've been giving thought to the number of "psychics" that are making a great deal of money from telling the living what the dead is thinking.

MY QUESTION:  Since "to be absent from the body is to be present in the Lord" (which is my belief)  ~ then who are these psychics talking to?  Since our spirit / soul goes straight to Jesus, then why would it hang out here to converse with the so-called 'living'

  Opinions anyone?

First of all we are told in the Bible not to talk to familiar spirits nor to have anything to do with those that do. It is not of God. So this being not of God, yet it being spiritual, then it can only be of the devils. I am positive that there are many that fake talking with these spirits also and have never really done so nor will they ever. This is also of the devil in that these people are deceiving and leading others astray.

I didn't comment on this as you had already quoted what scriptures tell us. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

They won't be able to justify anything before the Lord nor will any of us that have not accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. It is His way and none of our own.

What do you think of "orbs" .... We're told by man that an "orb" is an angel??

Orbs are claimed by "some" to be paranormal existences of some sort (angels, peoples spirits, etc). Others believe that it is just light refracting off of dust particles. For those that believe it is paranormal, it is simply the desire to see and to believe in things beyond the scope of this world.

All of this fits into the same category with "Astrology, Numerology, Tarot Card Reading, Mediums, Psychics, Seers, Necromancy,  etc." and is false religions and cultish.

We are told that:

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We do not need to "see" these things nor should we try just in order to have true faith. We know that angels have been seen by man. When they are it is in a form that can clearly be seen as they appear in the physical form as men.

Hi Terri long time since I've seen you. how are you doing?

Terri, the devil and his demons have been around for so long that they are familiar with our ways, no they cannot tell the future and they cannot read anyone's minds but they have been studying us from birth and they can appear as angels of light and as familiar spirits that is to say they pretend to be the person they want to speak with.

See:  1Sa 28:7 ¶ Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

Remember that whenever God wanted to communicate anything to anyone He always used either prophets or angels, He never uses familiar spirits which are deceiving and conniving that is why the Bible warns us from seeking the future from any type of familiar spirits, a lot of other things fall into this same category along with phsycics such as horoscopes, hand reading, ouija board and many other things. We as Christians have to be very careful not to fall prey to these things.

As mentioned above.  There are forces working in this world.  But they are not of God and thus can only be of Satan.  They are here to deceive us and lead us astray.  There could be people talking to spirits but they are simply demons sent by Satan to deceive us.

It seems as if records are being set with weirdos coming out of the woodwork claiming all kinds of powers. In fact, I arrested quite a few of these folks over 25 years in police work. Many cities and states have laws that prohibit what they're doing because it's nothing more than criminal con games. I would say that 99.9 % of them fit into the criminal category, but I have met and dealt with some that didn't fit the common criminal category.

Some of them were practicing witches involved in various rituals that were legal and all the way up to murder. Others were psychopaths, mental cases, and a few appeared to be genuinely evil. Even those we considered to be genuinely evil were arrested, handled by the court system, and locked away or otherwise dealt with.

The above is very general and applies to a lengthy laundry list involving criminals and con games. I'll assume that some questions regard the real and supernatural. We all should know that the devil and other fallen angels are quite real. Many portions of the Holy Bible deal with the devil and the powers of darkness. This is nothing to be taken lightly, played with, or experimented with. The Bible also tells us that the devil will deceive great hosts of people near the end days of this Age of Grace. The Tribulation Period will even be worse because the controls by the "Great Restrainer" (HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD) will be removed. The devil will roam free, perform great signs and wonders, and actually make many people believe that he is GOD.

Of MUCH greater importance, ALMIGHTY GOD is Supernatural and quite REAL. GOD tells us that there will be wars between good and evil, and HE tells us who wins - JESUS CHRIST! GOD tells us to test things with the ultimate TRUTH - HIS WORD! Here is one importance of studying the Bible - it tells us much more than just how to identify false teachers and false prophets. As Christian people, we should know that we won't win the wars against the devil and evil - BUT JESUS CHRIST WILL!

As Christians, we have the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD living in our hearts, and the devil can't defeat HIM. However, this doesn't hint that we should go play with the devil. In fact, GOD'S WORD specifically tells us NOT to play with the devil in many portions of Scripture. Our work should be about studying GOD'S WORD, putting on the "Whole Armor of GOD", becoming strong in CHRIST, prayer, and avoiding the things of the devil. We want to stay in the LIGHT and have the LIGHT working in us and through us.
