Tashkent, June 9, IRNA

Iran-Uzbekistan-Baqaei
Deputy Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Hamid Baqaei here Friday stressed the need for unity and interaction in cultural and historical fields of Islamic and oriental states.

Baqaei was speaking in a meeting with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Shah Azim Monorof.

Enjoy ancient history and civilization, Iran and Uzbekistan can play a crucial role in campaign against the West's cultural invasion of oriental countries.

Turning to his tour of cultural and historical monuments in Uzbek cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, he said, "Introducing ancient historical and cultural works and monuments of Iran and Uzbekistan calls for exchange of experience and expansion of bilateral ties and cooperation."
Monorof said Tashkent has been chosen as the second cultural capital of the Islamic world after the Iranian city of Isfahan.

He stressed Iranian and Uzbek officials are resolved to promote bilateral ties in all fields including cultural heritage and tourism.

Iran enjoys a very rich and deep-rooted history, culture and civilization, he said, adding Uzbekistan welcomes boosting relations with Tehran.
