Pro-life group says Kansas governor out of step with people
A Kansas pro-life group says the governor of that state is a supporter of an organization that has been under investigation for illegally concealing child rape and committing illegal late-term abortions.
Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius appeared Tuesday night at a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri. Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, says Sebelius' name has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential nominee or cabinet appointee, should a Democrat win the presidency.
That is why America needs to know where this woman stands, Newman insists. "I think that this shows Governor Sebelius' radical support of abortion, even though she's the governor of a red state, which is 70 percent against abortion, particularly in the late terms," he says.
"So, again," the Operation Rescue spokesman points out, "we have someone who is diverging from the general consensus of the people and showing support for an indicted criminal and someone who has the largest percentage of abortions in the world. Clearly she's out of step with biblical morality and the consensus of her constituents."
Newman adds that Sebelius claims to be Roman Catholic. However, he notes, her avid support for abortion is in conflict with church teaching.
