Cherokee Indian Fatherhood

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage?
His dad takes him into the forest - blindfolded - and leaves him.

He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not take off the blindfold
until the ray of sun shines through it. He is all by himself.

He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night he is a MAN. He cannot tell the other boys of this experience.

Each lad must come into his own manhood.

The boy was terrified. He could hear all kinds of noise. Beasts were all around him.

Maybe even some human would hurt him. The wind blew the grass and it shook his stump.

But he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It was the only way he could become a man.

Finally, after a horrific night, the sound of the night disappeared.

He could feel the warmth of the sun. He removed his blindfold.

It was then that he saw his father - sitting on the stump next to him - on watch the entire night.

We are never alone. Even when we do not know it, our Father is protecting us.
He is sitting on the stump beside us.

All we have to do is take off our blindfolds.

Live Simply. Love Generously. Care Deeply. Speak Kindly.

Leave the Rest to God.

Hello HimAll4,

You are most welcome. My wife got that in email at school and saved it for me because she thought I would like it. She was right - I do like it. Our HEAVENLY FATHER is always with us and in our hearts.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Good Morning Sister Tina!

I knew that I should have come to the thread instead of answering one reply from the new messages. I also got to see another one of your graphics. I might have a few new ones to share pretty soon that you might not have. I did go shopping a couple of times, but my computer has been crashed so much that I haven't had an opportunity to look very closely at what I collected.

I do give thanks that there are now many beautiful Christian graphics on the Internet. I'll post a couple below, and you're welcome to snag them. I'll tell my wife to thank her email group at school for sharing "Cherokee Indian Fatherhood". I'm also part Cherokee, so that's probably another reason why my wife saved this for me.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 28:7 NASB  The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.

I am like most fathers.  I, like most, want more for my children than I have.

I am unlike most fathers.  What I would like my children to have more of is crowns to lay at Jesus feet.
