I work at a small store out in the country.  I have great bosses and they are trying to do the right things as far as running the business goes, but things are not looking up for them.  But right down the road there is a store that has girls half dressed and they throw parties every Friday night and just have all of this evil going on, yet they are doing great.  They always seem to have a parking lot full of people.  I was talking to one of my bosses last night and he's kind of down and out about it because he's trying to do what the Lord wants for him to do but things are just going down hill.  I just hated to see him down and out like that and I started trying to think of this verse that I had read.  I told him that there was a verse in the Bible that talks about how wicked people are prospering  right now, and they have their reward but Godly people will have their reward in Heaven.  I told him I would look up the verse for him but I can't seem to find it.  Does anyone know where I can find this verse?

Hi mj,

Actually there are a number of them. Mat 5 in the beatitudes, especially verse 12; Luk 6: 23- 24.

Pro 11:18  The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
Pro 11:19  As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

Joh 9:4  I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Matthew 13:49 So it will be at the close and consummation of the age. The angels will go forth and separate the wicked from the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God)

Hebrews 3:11-13 Accordingly, I swore in My wrath and indignation, They shall not enter into My rest.  12 [Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.  13 But instead warn (admonish, urge, and encourage) one another every day, as long as it is called Today, that none of you may be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [by the fraudulence, the stratagem, the trickery which the delusive glamor of his sin may play on him].

There is a Psalm that talks about this very thing.....I'm sorry I can't remember which one right now.  Maybe Pastor Roger or someone else knows it.

As for your boss's store, why don't you guys have a "family night" and do something fun on Friday nights?  This is just an idea....not sure if it is possible for your boss.  But it might draw some people in that are looking for some clean, social activities.  Some people are lonely but don't want to go to the other type of environment you described.

Also .... the wicked prosper because their treasures are here on earth ... we who are in Christ Jesus have our treasures in Heaven where we will prosper.

Hello MJC,

There are really many beautiful portions of Scripture that apply. I want to share one of my favorites below. I'll simply say that I'm proud of your boss and hope he sticks with what he's doing. Using the devil's ways for gain is empty, and that applies to all things. Christians should not compromise for popularity, money, or anything else of this world. If I live anywhere near a store trying to operate under Christian principles, I will give them whatever business I have. I'm not rich, nor do I have a lot of business in anything, but I would also tell other Christians about a store like this.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Matthew 6:19 NASB  "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

Matthew 6:20 NASB  "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;

Matthew 6:21 NASB  for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:22 NASB  "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.

Matthew 6:23 NASB  "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Matthew 6:24 NASB  "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Matthew 6:25 NASB  "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:26 NASB  "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

Matthew 6:27 NASB  "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

And always remember that the wicked will get their just deserts...  And often enough it happens while they are living as well as beyond.  Where the wicked congregate so too does their wicked ways.

Thanks for your help.  I had found some of these but there are a lot of them that I hadn't seen.  Thanks for your time and effort to try to help me!  I really appreciate it!
