Christian group gains official status at Wisc. university

A lawsuit filed against University of Wisconsin-Superior on behalf of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship so the group could obtain official recognition has been settled -- with the outcome that the religious student group was hoping.

UW-Superior will formally recognize the chapter, which gives it permanent access to student facilities and student fees normally given to all campus groups. InterVarsity had been utilizing those privileges on a temporary injunction since a November federal court order, and will now receive all the student fee funds that it did not prior to the order.

InterVarsity counsel David French of Alliance Defense Fund says America's colleges and universities should recognize the constitutional rights of Christian student groups just as they do other student groups.

French explains in a press release that the settlement ensures that Intervarsity can determine its "standards for leadership" in the campus chapter without having to worry it may lose access to student facilities and student fee funding -- benefits that all other recognized campus groups enjoy. In addition, says the ADF attorney, the agreement brings the university in line with an earlier ruling from the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a similar ADF case involving Southern Illinois University.

Good for them.

A shame that they had to go through all of that...I mean what makes sense makes sense you know.  Would the University have thought it wrong to have a men's organization or something similar like the Women's League or whatnot?  No they would not have thought a second about it...but since this one is Christian then we had better watch out!  I tell you it is not a matter of Satan causing man to sin...but he is sucking the God given common sense out of America.
