Homosexual sues doctors who refused to artifically inseminate her

An official with the Thomas More Law Center says doctors should be able to refuse to perform medical procedures that violate their sincerely held religious beliefs. The Law Center filed a brief in a case pending before the California Supreme Court, North Coast Women's Care v. Benitez, which involves a homosexual woman who sued two doctors after they refused to artificially inseminate her.

Eventually, the plaintiff, Benitez, and her partner found a doctor who performed the procedure. Brian Rooney with the Thomas More Law Center believes their continuing to press their suit against the physicians proves that homosexual activists want to force others to accept their lifestyle.

"The fact that these two individual lesbians were able to get inseminated from other doctors," Rooney notes, prompts a question: "What's the purpose of them suing these doctors that refused to do it?" Obviously, he contends, it is "so that they can force people through the rule of law, not through legislative law but through law created by courts, to violate their consciences."

However, the California Constitution bars Benitez from holding the doctors liable for their refusal to provide medical care based on their sincerely held religious convictions, the Thomas Moore Law Center attorney points out. He believes the rights of medical professionals under these circumstances need to be upheld and protected.

"A doctor should have that right to not perform surgeries that are against his conscience," Rooney asserts. He says the plaintiffs' case against these two physicians "smacks of Nazi Germany when Hitler forced doctors to do diabolical acts that were like this."

In her lawsuit, Benitez claims the two doctors who refused to assist in her artificial insemination discriminated against her because of her sexual orientation. Depending on the outcome of the case, Rooney says doctors could be forced to perform medical procedures that violate their sincerely held religious beliefs.

I personally think that large counter-suits need to be filed in all cases like this. Some might think that only gays, lesbians, and trans-genders have rights - NOT SO! This is really little more than blatant harassment of people with morals. Sooner or later, folks must be taught there is a HIGH PRICE for harassment or denial of rights for Christians.

In short, it's long past the time for Christians to DEMAND their rights and liberties. The time of using courts to harass Christians should be over. The LAW works BOTH ways, and it's time to make the LAW WORK.

Amen. There is need to have judges that will realize this also instead of going in favor of these people.
