Hi, I thought I better introduce myself....better late than never!  Cheesy

I've been a born again Christian since 1972, attended Bible college in 74/75 and minored in missions.  I have a single calling.    Although I was led into secular work, I always had a missionary heart and share with people as led by the Holy Spirit.  I was in the travel industry for many years and was blessed by God to visit Asia twice (once for a month).  This gave me a love for Asian missions....and the past severals years, I have been interested in indigenous missions to Muslims which I try to help through Christian Aid.

I love nature, animals, flowers/plants, sightseeing, architecture, different cultures and walking.  Even though I live in the "big city" of Los Angeles, I always try to look for the beauty of God's creation around me.

Hi Debp,

I'm glad to meet you finally.   Wink Cheesy

With things going as they are you won't have to go far from home for a mission to the muslims.

I have been to LA many times. There is a beauty all it's own there where God's hand can be seen from the lowland desert area to the nearby mountains. From the Calif poppies and cacti to the apple orchards.

Yes, that's right....there is a mosque not far from me and I also have a few Muslim friends (who are very dear people to me).  Also, there are cashiers that are Muslims in a couple of the stores I go to.  I find them sincere but they just don't know of God's gift of salvation through Christ.....until they start to meet some Christians that will be patient and loving towards them.  It takes time.

I live near downtown L.A. and do not drive anymore.  So I just hop on the subway (the Redline) and once in a while take the bus.  So I don't really get to see much of nature except for the flowers, etc, that the office buildings plant!!  I also have some plants on the communal patio of our apt building.

Sounds like you have had an exciting life. With  your traveling to all parts of the world and the intersting people you have met and come to know as friends. You mentioned in a post in another area that you were orginally from Pennsylvania.  May I ask what part of the State? The reason I am asking is because I am originally from the northwestern part, the Allegany National Forest area. Anyways I enjoy reading your posts and look forward sharing more posts with you.

Hi Islandboy....I did answer in another topic, but maybe you missed that one.  I know some topics get quite busy!  I am from Southwestern PA....actually Pittsburgh.  Were you from a town?  I have a cousin living around the Fallingwater area.  Also, some cousins in Pittsburgh still.

I have many good memories growing up in PA....such a beautiful, green, woodsy state.  Even though Pittsburgh is a city, when I went back to visit some years ago, I was amazed at the woodsy feel of the city.   Have you ever been to Phipps Flower Conservatory in Schenley Park?  It's really beautiful.

Actually, I didn't get to all of the areas of the world, even though that would have been nice.

Actually, I lived out in the country on a farm not far from DuBois. Yes, I agree with you on the fact of the beautiful countryside. Even the winter is beautiful in it's own way. But the cold is harder to take having been away from it for so long. I have been through Pittsburgh Airport many times but never had the chance to explore the city.

Yes, the winter scenery is so pretty....but, like you, I've been spoiled with the mild climate year round.  I still email a childhood friend in Pittsburgh....she lets me know about the weather and has fallen a couple of times on the ice recently.  If you ever get the chance, try to see some of Pittsburgh.  I think they also still have the big paddlewheel boats on the rivers there.

Thinking about Pittsburgh, when I was growing up my father used to take us to baseball games in Pittsburgh. One of the unusual sites I was able to enjoy from our motel window was that police officer who did fancy moves in directing traffic. I think he was once featured on Candid Camera. When I graduated from high school, our class trip took us to Pittsburgh, where we went to a carnival and rode on a paddlewheel boat that had a band playing that was really...........really bad. Just a few memories from 30 years ago.

Brothers and Sisters,

I'm almost sure that I've welcomed all of you on other parts of the forum, but here's another WELCOME! just in case.

We do have a lot of sweet Christians here, and we enjoy Christian family fellowship here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. JESUS CHRIST is the core and substance of our fellowship. Our love for HIM is a more than sufficient foundation for loving each other.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Philippians 4:8 NASB  Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
