Looking around outwardly at the Church, the world, and the creation,
we do not see the preeminence of Christ. We hardly see it when we
examine our own lives. Is Jesus really Lord? Is God truly sovereign?
Indeed. He is working "all things after the counsel of His own Will"
(Ephesians 1:11b). Obviously this is a progressive thing. He does not
suddenly take over the universe, no more than He suddenly takes over
each disciple. Children of God are not born fully grown, and Jesus is
not building His Church in one day. Instead, He works slowly, almost
imperceptibly, increasing and enlarging, gently leading, gradually
revealing Himself in a thousand small ways.

Actually Revolutionist, what I see is that God does instantly do things.  God instantly saves us once we accept His will.  God instantly created the universe.
What I actually see looking around at the world today is man slowly and gradually turning away from God.  That man is slowing turning the sovereignty of God into nothingness.  I see man gruadually placing more and more material and ideological idols between themselves and God.

God is the judge of all that there is to judge.  And judgement is instantaneous and a singular act.  You may be judged once.  But man is eroding the process of sanctification.  We are degrading the process of sanctification in order to maintain our "feel good" ideals.  And that progression is picking up speed.  Look at our country.  50 years ago "gay pride" was not tolerated (and should not be), we would have never even considered allowing anything other than the Bible to be used to swear an oath of office, we would not have considered taking "under God" from our pledge.  And the list goes on and on and on.

Nope me personally I see it all the other way around.  God is instant as well as gradual.  But I see His actions as usually instant.  He created His church in an instant, His death.  And it is man that is eroding away all that God has done and robbing Him of the glory of His works.  Even that creation, as we more and more look toward evolutionary ideas.

I am like most fathers.  I, like most, want more for my children than I have.

I am unlike most fathers.  What I would like my children to have more of is crowns to lay at Jesus feet.
