Leahy Seeks To Inform al Queda

The Senate Democrat (aka “Leaky Leahy”) who will chair the Judiciary Committee next year has asked the Justice Department to release newly acknowledged documents setting U.S. policy on how suspects in the war on terrorism are detained and interrogated:

Quote
“The American people deserve to have detailed and accurate information about the role of the Bush administration in developing the interrogation policies and practices that have engendered such deep criticism and concern at home and around the world,” Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., wrote Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The ACLU (al Queda Civil Liberties Union) also shares Leahy’s concern:

Quote
“If President Bush and the Justice Department authorized the CIA to torture its prisoners, the public has a right to know,” said Jameel Jaffer, an ACLU attorney involved in the case.

In other words, Leahy and the ACLU should have just written “al Queda deserves to have detailed and accurate information about the role of the Bush administration in developing the interrogation policies and practices” because once that information is released to the “American Public,” it will be studied by al Queda in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

We now know what happens when “sensitive information” like this is made available. On September 6, 2006, the US Army released Field Manual 2-22.3, “Human Intelligence Collector Operations” and made copies available for download on the internet. Within days of the online release, while not reported by the media, copies were found amongst captured al Queda documents in Afghanistan. I have personal knowledge that Members of Congress are aware this document has been captured on raids in SW Asia. Does Congress not have a clue as to why this document started popping up in Afghanistan?

Even though I realize that I am a partisan, I wish the Democrat Party would not go down this path. This is the security of the Nation that is ultimately at risk. If they choose this unfortunate path, it is up to the opposition party to do everything in their power to expose them and seek their defeat.
